Damn! I give up mcjordi, I'm off to the beginning of the 2nd thread to see if I can sort out who the guy I'm taking about really is...though I guess now, you're gonna tell me you're one of us gals anyway!!!! Oh eck, I need a break - one hell of a long break!!!! I'd have a drink but I'm teetotal.  :silenced:  :undecided

Hiya LC, I'm turning to you for some sanity (wrong person, but she won't know) :) Reading your post I 'saw you' hands all floured up, nose running and you wiping your nose all across the back of your hand...up you arm..then into the cakes again....:D I view the world in a lovely way, see you do too. Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today. What's that - a cake?? Do I wanna cake? Oh no ta, I'm just far too full. ()

    Night all, sleep tight.

  • Sue - BOGOF is great! :) I dont have any 'spare change' anymore im obsessed with how much I can put into the jar now!!

Putting £3.50 in today, change from my yoga session. I know yoga is expensive but I dont go to gym hate runnin and I just love it there. Its my social... Nothing bettr than excercing lying down!

My fella owes me £3 so hes put it in there. It came from my paypal anyways. I cant pay the £200 that I earned from ebay into my pot because my credit card is now on interest so its seems silly to be paying interest on something that can be paid a bit :( its almost like taking money from the jar and Im not paying Hlaifax anymore money they have taken enough off me now!!

Hows everyone else going? Whats this roadkill everyones doing? stealing money from animals?!?

  • Hi Guys,

I've been saving my shrapnel through-out the year... can i join your challenge still..?? I've not opened it as i'm saving for christmas! (which is only 3 paydays away eek)
Its so hard trying to save money with my OH who has no idea about money at all.. he'll spend the last penny in his pocket without a thought.. feeling quite proud to have made it so far into the year, unfortunately i havent been keeping track though so i cant even give you a rough idea of where its at at the moment.

  • Haven't posted in ages. Yesterday I had to open the sealed tin. It wouldn't take any more money. My aim was to put in £1 per day from the beginning of the year and then cash it all in on 1 December. The total yesterday was £337. :j I'm delighted. The shrapnel jar is still ongoing.

I've put it all back in at the minute until I can make a wise decision as the desire to blow it is exceptionally strong. I had planned on using it for Christmas but do have a good bit of Christmas sorted already. So I'm dithering now over what to spend it on:

Baby 4 is due 22 November and some of my mat leave will be on SMP so this could go towards bills during the months I've less money.

Do I cash it in now and sort out the rest of Xmas and then start again?

Do I leave it in the tin until 1 December and buy another tin and keep filling it and do a recount of both on 1 December?

Do I cash it in and treat the whole family.

    Decisions, Decisions. :rotfl:

Wow so many avenues... Id go for getting the rest of xmas sorted and maybe set aside going for a nice night out e.g. a tueday night cineworld cheap night or wednesday 2 for 1 then pizza hut, kids eat free plus £8 pizza, garlic bread or wedges with drink. BARGAIN. If none of these are close get some of the vouchers off here and have a nice meal!

putting it in the pot for december is also a good idea tho.

    Welcome along Sara,
Sue will be about to give you your number later as its never too late in the year to join us here. Don't worry about not knowing what you have in the pot, alot of us don't keep track so we can enjoy the surprise on counting day.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Its been ages since I posted but I am still tootling along with the small change in the tin. I'm on my 3rd pop can and hoping it will be filled for opening day. Looking forward to all the declarations. Keep going everyone.
  • Hi everyone, can an aussie girl join in :)
The OH and I have been doing this for the last 2 years, I buy a money tin in the new year and we put only $1 & $2 coins in and it goes towards all the extras for Xmas. I also run a silver coin tin but it's not sealed, I cash that in whenever it's full and pop into the bank or it goes towards what ever we may need at the time. You can halve my $ amount to get a approx £ amount
