i recently got a 28'' lcd samsung newest model out from a catalouge seconds shop (still has a full 12 month warranty) still in a sealed box for £450 and its fab.0

I thought I'd save this post 'till I'd got mine to make sure it was the bargain it looked. A member of my family works for the UK retail distributor for Fujitsu Siemens and they have a limited number of brand new 32" LCD (£559+ delivery) and 42" Plasma sets (£813+ delivery) with 24 month warranty.
You can order by phone or via the web, but you must quote Ref: 4202 to get at these prices and I'm told that after offering them to Fujitsu Siemens staff there's only a couple of hundred left.

Don't forget to quote ref 4202
By the way, I'm very pleased with my 32" LCD which works well and looks good with a very tastefull black finish!Retired and debt free at last0 -
ellie if you haven't the pennies right now...how about trying freecycle.org
You might find a tv on there that will last until you have enough money for one.0 -
would avise AGAISNT Plasma and definatley get LCD, mch better and more reliable and no "Re-gas" due after 2 - 3 years.0
-
lol, you can't 're-gas' a plasma, never have, never will, it's a complete myth.
the current generation has a life expectancy somewhere between 30,000 and 60,000 hours. So if you watched it for 5 hours a day, 365 days a year, you're still looking at 16 years.
However, there aren't many products I would consider taking out an extended warranty on, but a £1k+ TV is one of them.
People have got some funny ideas about certain products. You can't say 'LCD TV's are rubbish and Plasma is better' or vice versa, it's down to the individual models.0 -
partly agree about cheaper lcds, some cheaper ones can have poor picture quality and the finish is cheap (supermarkets ones) however the samsung one i have that i mentioned on an ealier post is brilliant. good picture, classy black casing, and hd ready.0

I'd say try local free ads like https://www.adtrader.co.uk etc first, so many people upgrading for the football friends of mine have got some cracking teles for very little moneyOne day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Sounds like the Line Output transormer died - why not get a quote to have the thing repaired - it is appauling that we all have this throw away attitude at the very least you might want to freecycle it for someone else to fix!
Anyway agree with some opinions here let the miss-led & sheeple buy the LCD's and Plasma's LOL get yourself a CRT it might be a little bit deeper and be based on 100 year old idea's but you can't really argue with value for money and picture quality can you!?0 -
You will be better off purchasing a crt tv, all showrooms display their plasmas and lcds through High Def so what you see in shop is not what you will get at home. Get a flatscreen crt 32", avoid the Phillips 28" mentioned previously ( I'm am an electrical servcie engineer, trust me). Everybody raves about HD but its going to be a while before its standard or you plump the extra for a SKY HD box. Buy a cheapo enjoy for a couple of years then get your all singing all dancing lcd a lot cheaper and a lot more reliable than most lcds and plasmas I am seeing at the moment. Anyway keeps me busyYesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is gift; that is why it's called the present.
