If it's gone bang after three years it may be worth trying to get Toshiba to repair/replace it.
If not then either get a cheapish CRT to tide you over till LCD prices drop further, or be prepared to spend £600+ anything less than that is going to buy you something which (imo) is of very poor quality.
Samsung make some of the best budget LCD's
Looking round at widescreen CRT's for someone the other day I was shocked at the lack of decent models available, most of the quality brands have withdrawn from that market, leaving a lot of rubbish.0 -
Depends what you want. I wouldn't touch an LCD TV they can't cope with fast moving images so the only options would be a CRT from Asda or a plasma screen which is going to cost £1200+Nothing to see here, move along.0

It might be worth considering the new Samsung "slim fit" HDTV which uses a normal CRT rather than LCD for £450...

There are mixed reviews on the Internet so I would go along to a Comet showroom ( I think Currys also sell this model) and judge for yourself.
Thanks

Bargain Crazy have a couple of discounted freeview TVs in their price plunge section https://www.bargaincrazy.com - Philips 28" "half price" at £250 plus p&p and larger screens at larger prices.
Look for this set on Amazon where it has a five star review from "What video and Widescreen" magazine.0 -
Or Curry's have one without freeview http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/276026 for £125. Also well reviewed.0

The 28" Philips freeview on Bargaincrazy is now down to £200!0

http://www.richersounds.co.uk have the run out models at cheaper prices, if you don't mind buying the one that was 'the latest spec' just a few months back!
& even the computer people http://www.evesham.com have their own brand at good prices.
