Express: Climate Change Is A Fraud To Raise Taxes

No kidding.....

Related on the front page of the FT, it seems as if China have been playing the system with "carbon credits" (partially funded by British [STRIKE]mugs[/STRIKE] taxpayers, of course!):
UN halts funds to China wind farms

The United Nations body in charge of managing carbon trading has suspended approvals for dozens of Chinese wind farms amid questions over the country’s use of industrial policy to obtain money under the scheme.

China has been by far the biggest beneficiary of the so-called Clean Development Mechanism, a carbon trading system designed to direct funds from wealthy countries to developing nations to cut greenhouse gases.

China has earned 153m carbon credits, worth more than $1bn and making up almost half of the total issued under the UN-run programme in the past five years, according to a Financial Times analysis. The credits are currently trading at about $10-$15 each

    No kidding.....

I'm afraid Climate Change is code for Peak Oil.

The former is a softly softly approach to the public that we need to do something to save Bangladesh from submersing in 50 years and to help polar bears.

The latter, if admitted would have profound and unimaginable economic consequences across the globe, oh and not a small amount of panic.

Funny that 'climate change' ticks every single box that peak oil ticks. Climate change is happening for sure, but it's always happened, are we to blame ? Make your own mind up.
  • THE scientific consensus that mankind has caused climate change was rocked yesterday as a leading academic called it a “load of hot air underpinned by fraud”.

Professor Ian Plimer condemned the climate change lobby as “climate comrades” keeping the “gravy train” going.

In a controversial talk just days before the start of a climate summit attended by world leaders in Copenhagen, Prof Plimer said Governments were treating the public like “fools” and using climate change to increase taxes.

He said carbon dioxide has had no impact on temperature and that recent warming was part of the natural cycle of climate stretching over billions of years.

Prof Plimer told a London audience: “Climates always change. They always have and they always will. They are driven by a number of factors that are random and cyclical.”

His comments came days after a scandal in climate-change research emerged through the leak of emails from the world-leading research unit at the University of East Anglia. They appeared to show that scientists had been massaging data to prove that global warming was taking place

The Climate Research Unit also admitted getting rid of much of its raw climate data, which means other scientists cannot check the subsequent research. Last night the head of the CRU, Professor Phil Jones, said he would stand down while an independent review took place.

Professor Plimer said climate change was caused by natural events such as volcanic eruptions, the shifting of the Earth’s orbit and cosmic radiation. He said: “Carbon dioxide levels have been up to 1,000 times higher in the past. CO2 cannot be driving global warming now.

“In the past we have had rapid and significant climate change with temperature changes greater than anything we are measuring today. They are driven by processes that have been going on since the beginning of time.”
He cited periods of warming during the Roman Empire and in the Middle Ages – when Vikings grew crops on Greenland – and cooler phases such as the Dark Ages and the Little Ice Age from 1300 to 1850.
And he predicted that the next phase would cool the planet.

Climate change is widely blamed on the burning of fossil fuels which release greenhouse gases such as CO2 into the atmosphere, where they trap the sun’s heat.
The talks at Copenhagen are expected to find ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions globally.

But Professor Plimer, of Adelaide and Melbourne Universities, said that to stop climate change Governments should find ways to prevent changes to the Earth’s orbit and ocean currents and avoid explosions of supernovae in space.

Of the saga of the leaked emails, he said: “If you have to argue your science by using fraud, your science is not valid.”

    Finally, someone is talking sense.
“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

    .

And if governments were to tax emissions and ring fence 100% of the revenue into developing alternative energy that would improve our energy security, I would have no problem with that.

But the current taxes are just a scam

I think the point he is making is that it's impossible to stop climate change.

I think the point he is making is that it's impossible to stop climate change.

& as far as im aware, no one is actually suggesting we could stop 'climate change'
the suggestion is that humans should reduce their negative impacts upon the climate & the world, as they will cause major problems in the future.
  • I have no problem in saying I'm a 'climate change sceptic', in that I mean human generated climate change. I have read almost as much on the subject as my favourite reading of energy depletion.

IMO human made climate change is a subject that is similar to how the economy/house prices issue is being reported at this time, read the headlines, listen to sensastionalism and you'd think we were all in for big HPI or in this case being submerged under 50 feet of water in 50 years time, however dig a bit deeper and you will perceive a different view of reality.

Climate change has and always will happen, it might even get to a point where the global population starts to be reduced, after all the only reason the planet can support 6 billion + people is because of cheap oil, it won't support this many people in the future regardless of what happens to the climate anyway.

    HSF,

I can't believe that I agree with you on this!

IMHO AGW is a false ideology utilised by certain sections of society, whose previous ideologies have proven to be unworkable. Or as my mother would say, they are on the bandwagon!

However, energy security and sustainable population levels are real problems that must be addressed.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
  • Is this really likely to be the case or is it just the regular conspiracy theorists who brought us such gems as the Duke of Edinburgh had Princess Diana killed off, the nWo were behind 911 etc etc etc.

Alot of people really do believe climate change to be a threat to the world. Human climate change that is. There is supposedly a stack of evidence in its favour.

Without resorting to the tabloidisation what are the arguments for climate change ? I am interested to find out as I have really avoided the subject as I do not care for being preached at but it is not going away any time soon.
