I have two children one in school one in pre school in the morning and I still manage to walk my dog and do my housework, I am just organised!

Thats great, any form of responsable owner ship is to be commended! :)

...but the other person might have a different set up, more children at home, work hours during the school day, noone to stay with child/ren outside school hours to walk then...any number of things.

or she might have time and simply doesn't need to, because her well behaved dog and family walk together twice a day causing no one harm and is unthinking that she is causing someone discomfort....which could in all probablity be resolved with no inconvenience to any party by her standing a coupe/few metres to the left or right of where she is standing!
  • I get where you're coming from OP, I wouldn't like to see a dog like that about either, particularly not around children. I'm not afraid of dogs as a rule though, but as someone else has said, you never know when they can turn.

Which she most probably would do if someone politely asked her to, instead of proposing to drag all and sundry into the matter and creating something out of nothing.

So what would you do? Have a quiet word with the dog owner? Or would you start going in complaining to the school or contacting police liason officers??

This whole situation would be resolved quite easily if the OP would ask the dog owner if she minded moving away from the gate a bit because she is nervous around big dogs

I agree with the above just politly ask the owner to move down slightly if your child is uncomfortable walking past the dog i'm sure they wont mind. From another angel though would it maybe be prudent to teach the kids some awareness when it comes to strange dogs. From day dot i have taught my kids never to go running up to dogs fussing them unless the owner is present and they can ask first if it safe to stroke the animal :-)

  • Yes, I would definitely have had a word with the owner, but if they didn't listen, I would see if something else could be done through the school.

This is exactly the point i have been making the first port of call for the OP would be to speak to the dog owner if that didnt work then to follow alternative routes some on here didnt seem to agree though!
