But you're not paying them anything, the service is 'free' by Sky's definition. A 2GB service is very limiting these days, so they sell this on the basis that most people will then have to upgrade once they're contracted.
    Are you using iPlayer perhaps?
I am paying them something. I pay them £5 at the minute because I got a 'Loyalty Discount' of £5.

I dont use iPlayer, itunes or any other file sharing network. I use forums like these. I do some internet shopping. I do some research and the likes using web pages. I cant comprehend how I am halfway through my allowance after 3 days.

Sky Broadband can go !!!! themselves.

Are you using a wireless connection, if so is it secured using WPA (not WEP) encryption or better?
Any other devices in the house connected to this network? I'm thinking kids on X-boxes etc.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The network is secure. I've no kids playing an x-box or any other data intensive devices attached.

Time to start looking round for another provider I guess.

When you took the product was there no 2Gb limit specified, seems a bit much to suddenly impose one?

    Not to my knowledge.
Router is secure and no xbox's etc. Don't use iplayer at all.
We have been with Sky for years coz Husband likes footie on TV so when they offered FREE bb we took it up! Also got the phone package skytalk too, tho my line rental is still with BT.
All I do is surf the web, forums like these, facebook, ebay, hotamail etc.
Looks like I'm going to have to upgrade! GRRRRRR:mad:

  • That's why I've just moved from Sky to O2 LLU, apart from being free for 3 months then £7.50 / month it's unlimited (for now).

Also the connection is at least 30% faster.

    Good Riddance $ky!
