Yes, very encouraging news. Thanks for letting us know.
Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.
You come here for advice, help and support- thats what I and like minded others will try to do.
  • Esmerellda just wondering if you have any advice on the response i should send back to HSBC with regards to the letter i recieved yesterday?

I heard on the news this morning that the OFT are not continuing to investigate the bank charges so not too sure where i stand now.

Hi all, I will carry on trying to help on this thread as much as possible, but it will get quite confusing with everyones claims in one thread. I have put some general guidance over on https://www.legalbeagles.info/forums which should help - Emily - we have drafted an HSBC letter but please read the announcements over there first (they should be visible to unregistered users) Am going to be a bit rushed off feet today, and then have to sort out christmas at home lol (done sod all so far!), but will be back asap to help where needed.

Hopefully Martin will post up some advice as to peoples options too soon.

Have had my hsbc letter this morning, so will go and look at that letter with great interest.

I sent HSBC a holding email telling them I would be continuing the claim and would write after the busy christmas period.

(well I registered on that site, but can't find the letter referred to above...!)

it is NOT a template tho - just an idea and you have to go through and make sure it applies to your situation and you can evidence things which show the imbalance. The onus of proof is on the bank tho.

Barclays have today (well dated 21/12/09) advised via letter they ar not upholding my complaint and have given me 8 weeks to respond.

Guess I'm now waiting on the new templates or advice, hopefully 8 weeks should be a large enough window to fully explore and tailor any form of change to POC.

Any advice welcome and maybe a letter drafted in the style of http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/showthread.php?t=20932 but designed for use in my situation with Barclays.

Alternatively would it be wiser to leave this a little while longer before replying to see how things develop with those that first reply to the HSBC and any other bank rejections?

p.s. I'll try and get a scan of the letter done later for others perusal, not in the mood for re-typing it all, it's Christmas free bar at work!

8 weeks should be plenty of time for some decent advice coming down from the QC's and brains on the issues.

  • I believe so to es... from what I've read of the HSBC rejection letters mine from Barclays appears to be very similar.

Yip I think they will all be along same lines. And yes I would recommend holding off till middle January if you can. Things will be much clearer by then :)

  • I can hold off, I learnt my lesson with such charges a nunber of years ago... whilst young and daft and on a much lower income to now.
