You do not have to refund the postage costs if the item is returned.
What I have done in the past if I have resold a return because of a daft buyer is refund the whole item less costs. Not sure if that can still be done. It did earn me a negative strike but the next buyer was fully informed and left me a glowing report :)

A negative isnt the worst thing in the world.

If you think your right, refuse the refund and take the negative. Just be sure to respond to it, and leave her feedback reflecting that she bought multiple items and wanted a refund.

Similar situation - I bought a "ladies" hat the other day which doesnt fit but does fit my niece (she is 6!!). It was described as a ladies hat but as I never asked what the measurements were before I bought it I figure its my problem for not asking. Technically might not be but I wouldnt dream of asking for a refund. I should have clarified first I suppose. I wouldnt give a refund if it is an adults watch and thats what you decribed it as.

ok I will go with that then. I will reply her now about a refund. Do I need to refund the original postage? And does it need to go through ebay as a return? I've never done this before so sorry about the silly questions!

    Thanks!

Yes, you need to refund the original postage because it's clear that you are selling as a business, even though you haven't registered as one on eBay and if you don't then the buyer will be well within her rights to complain. Have a read of the distance selling regulations.

Hope you have the serial number, even if you don't make sure you mention in any correspondence that you do and will check it if/when returned.

Hi thanks for all your replies. She does want a refund and I have asked her to send it tracked. I'm a bit confused now, I have tried to search on ebay for some information about this but couldnt find any. Is she supposed to put in a dispute with ebay first or can I just refund her?? And does tracked service mean registered post or special delivery?

Hi, why is clear that I'm selling as a business? I am a private seller, and does that mean that I dont have to refund the original postage as I am private?

Could someone help please! ok I sound desperate now.. she sent me a polite email earlier today saying why she wanted a refund and asked for my address to send the watch back. I've just checked my email again and shes sent me another one, it sounds like shes a bit annoyed to put it politely. I havent replied her yet because I'm not sure if it should go to dispute???

    Thanks

You don't open a dispute as you have nothing to open it on. Just give her an address to return it to and then refund when you receive it.

Your multiple listings of brand new items!!

Makes me mad that people decide to start buying to resell but don't bother to read up on their responsibilities first, tbh.
