How much ram do you have (<257?)

https://www.crucial.com. Up it to 512 (or more) and things will run much smoother, no swapping..

Also try https://www.ccleaner.com if you haven't got it.

and run a full service scan from here:

that is an option. It's just that the PC sometimes runs incredibly slow. Much slower that when I first had it. Even when I've only gor a couple of IE windows running

If you want to see what process is killing the performance try these when it goes slow..

    http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html
    http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html

But 256 isn't enough to run XP smoothly, If the disk light is coming on all the time, more ram will help..

You will have installed stuff since you bought it, defender etc, this will have an impact, especially when it's doing updates from the web etc..

The forum members who like staring at hijack this logs will probably be along shortly.. I had a brief glance, and nothing particular stood out.

Personally, I don't have any browser helper objects on my pc.., and you could disable all that corel phone home software that Dell installs on their PC's

Thanks. I'm happy to upgrade from Crucial if that's the way to go
