The tea set, antlers, sewing machine, mirror & books I'd put to auction. Either a local one to you or ebay. The money raised would come in handy.
The crutches probably beolong to the NHS & should be returned.
The wedding dress etc - charity shop, freecycle?0 -
Someone I know has been offered the moses basket which has been used for over 50 years, with the odd break outside the family. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

When you work out what it is within yourself that makes you hoard all this useless stuff, could you please tell me what it is?
My husband is the world's worst - we have whole outbuildings full from floor to ceiling with junk! Some of it may come in handy one day, I suppose, but what happens in reality is ...
Me: Have we got anything that would do to repair this 'whatever'?
Hubby: Yes - I've got just the thing. I'll go and get it.
Me: Gosh - you've been gone for three hours. Did you find it?
Hubby: No, although I know it's in one of the old sheds ... but I nipped to B &Q and got another one so that you could complete your project!!
Even giving something to the local drama group wouldn't work with him. He once gave a large old canvas Scout tent to the local village hall to use as Mystic Meg's boudoir at the summer sale or Santa's grotto for the Christmas Fayre. I breathed a sigh of relief when it went as finally I had space to put my freezer.
Guess who got 'volunteered' to store it in their outbuilding for the village hall committee? I wish he "didn't know how to say no" when it's the contents of his wallet that I'm after!0 -
If the antlers are in good condition and mounted you might get a good price for them on ebay. No - I have no idea how you would parcel them
up.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

The above scenario is a regular occurrance in my house.
I relate to that completely.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Not read anyone else's answers so if duplicated I am sorry in advance, bear in mind I am/was a lot like you in attitude, I also had a Mum who was a hoarder and it is hard to part with stuff you feel meant something to your Mum, BUT peace of mind and a tidy house are priceless so here goes!
1) From 22 years ago.......wedding dress, bridesmaid's dress and silver (not real silver) commemorative platter thing with our names engraved on it that was given as a present by our local pub. Obviously will never use them (nor will I ever fit into the dress again) so I don't know why I haven't just chucked them. I don't even have any fond memories of my marriage so it's not like I'm hanging onto the stuff for sentimental reasons.
Unhappy marriage, no fond memories, can't fit in it anyway what are you waiting for, charity shop who take rags, let's face it the late 80's were not a classic period for fashion and it's unlikely a modern bride would look at it twice (or even once?)
2) Canteen of cutlery given as a wedding present but never used. Everyday set (not posh). Pattern would be seen as quite old fashioned now I think. Don't really need it but a knife is a knife and it might come in handy one day?
Use it ir lose it, if you don't need it donate it to a shelter or a charity who help people coming out of care, no happy memories of that marriage remember!
3) Big cardboard box full of material. Mum used to make her own clothes but the craft gene passed me by. Daughter likes making things though and it might come handy for making easter things?
Will it really?, charity shop 90% of it keep a little bit for DD to use for crafts
4) Old Singer sewing machine (if memory serves, it was a bit temperamental and kept jamming but it was Mum's so was kept after she died and also it might come in handy) That said, it's been sat in the loft for 20 years.
If it was tempermental 20 years ago it will drive you crazy if you ever try to use it, Freecycle it someone might be able to master it, YOU won't;) you know you won't !
5) Old vinyl LP's, not in very good condition. Don't even have a record player but they are a reminder of the past. Some of them were even my Mum's so I keep her junk too.
Hands up I still have my vinyl but in my defence it's in a corner of the loft and it has sentimental value to ME not my Mum...if you wantto keep the one's that mean something to you I will let you off;)
6) China tea set. Old and also Mum's.Also been in loft 20 years.
Do you llike it, check on Ebay it might be a treasured design that people are clamouring for if not Charity shop or see notes on 2 above
7) Old wooden crutches. Found them in someone's bin years ago and asked if I could take them as I thought they'd come in handy for a school play or something.
Ebay? People buy the craziest things, on the other hand postage would be expensive, local theatre group maybe or the local tip?
8) Antlers (Shut up Pavlov) and a matching ship made out of antler I think.
No you got me there sorry !
9)Boxes of books from my childhood, my Father's childhood and also his First Aid books from when he was training.
Take out a few that make you smile and charity shop the rest, I had exactly this probelm at my mum's we had 1000's of old books, only about 25 were worth anything..
10) An old mirror that's at least 45 years old. I have pictures of me as a baby looking into this mirror. It's got a little damage to it in a couple of places where the backing seems to have rusted (?).
Tip:confused: what are you waiting for?
Hope that wasn't too harshenjoy the feeling when it's all gone;)

I have spare wardrobe doors, high chair, baby clothes, birthday cards from when I was 10, wedding invites and Order of Service from weddings 30 yrs ago. Old newspaper cuttings. You name it I have got it!
