I need a US Money Order TODAY - I don't care about the fees!

  • I will just mention that my account with Citibank in London does not charge any fees. However, it took a while to open it.

(could be the only solution so far I guess...)
How long did it take you? I do have a proof of address in the UK and my US Passport, will it work?

It's for the government for the Department of State, they don't take Western Union and all this crap, they take ONLY Money Orders or US Checks and I closed my Wells Fargo bank coz' they charged me fees so now I don't have a US bank account to send them a check, what can I do?? :p

Then why blame the UK? The fault lies with your own benighted government who are years - nay decades - behind the times.

Only thing I can suggest - find an American in London with a US account.
Get him to write the check. Pay him the cash. You must know some ex-pat surely?

And next time you visit the US try getting a check in £££, drawn on a UK bank.

Another thought - would AMEX travellers checks be OK? You'd have to sign them twice, which is a bit of a risk, but I believe you can write the payee's name on them

    Where can I get these?
I will call the office today to find out if they accept AMEX Traveller's checks, thanks for the tip btw! I mean cheers

They start work in like 3-4 hours or so, 9am EST, so I will ask if they accept Traveler's Check.

Okay, I find it so hard to get a US Money Order in the UK, I know its possible but I just dont know how.

I need a US Money Order NOT for eBay reasons, so I do need it:

    1) Drawn on a US Bank
    2) I need it TODAY

Natwest told me it takes 7-10 working days, I understand British people are slow but is there any QUICK service in this country? I dont mind to pay £50 for the service, I just need this to be done today like every good American, were not Europeans so we dont have time like you guys.

Can anyone please tell me where can I possibly get this done without any troubles and hassles?? As I said I dont care if the fee would be that high even £50 but I do care about time and I need it for today. Where can I get this thing? Im living in London btw.

    Thanks!

    nice

You can get TCs at any travel agent, bank or BdeC - the trick will be finding one that does AMEX. An AMEX office certainly.

Though it's possible that VISA will do as well which is the main alternative

You recommended this to me a while ago DZUG1 http://auctionchex.com/about-s.html

Will it work in this case I wonder?

I will have to call first to see if they take TC at first place, and Travelex told me they can do TC, can I trust them? Do you know Travelex? Isn't it the thing you see in the airports?
