I need a US Money Order TODAY - I don't care about the fees!

Okay, I find it so hard to get a US Money Order in the UK, I know its possible but I just dont know how.

I need a US Money Order NOT for eBay reasons, so I do need it:

1) Drawn on a US Bank
2) I need it TODAY

Natwest told me it takes 7-10 working days, I understand British people are slow but is there any QUICK service in this country? I dont mind to pay £50 for the service, I just need this to be done today like every good American, were not Europeans so we dont have time like you guys. :beer:

Can anyone please tell me where can I possibly get this done without any troubles and hassles?? As I said I dont care if the fee would be that high even £50 but I do care about time and I need it for today. Where can I get this thing? Im living in London btw.

Thanks!

    There are no such things as money orders in the UK - they were abolished years ago. So it can't be done.

    You can get a foreign currency cheque/check, and that should be possible on the spot at any major bank. Whether it would be drawn on a US bank though I don't know. Try a US bank - eg Citibank - they have two branches in central London and two at Canary Wharf.

    You want service..?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Try being polite to the country you live in. As a matter of fact, I have found most US businesses incredibly relaxed and slow about this kind of thing. Anyway, money orders are old-fashioned and we don't do that kind of thing now: if we need to send/receive money, we can't wait for pieces of paper to travel around the world. Why not tell us, or your bank, what you want to do? They will offer you options like a wire transfer, to get money to the right person within minutes, or other forms of international payment. Or maybe you should ask Western Union? They are big in Africa, so maybe they have branches in the mid-West as well.

    It's for the government for the Department of State, they don't take Western Union and all this crap, they take ONLY Money Orders or US Checks and I closed my Wells Fargo bank coz' they charged me fees so now I don't have a US bank account to send them a check, what can I do?? :p

    Called them.
    They don't do it for non-customers, so I have to open an account with them, I don't want to fall into fees again, I just want to pay cash + fees, get my money order and bye bye, why this is so complicated in this country?

    I might have known that the government was behind the problem!

    Options I would explore:
    find a friend with a US bank account who might be willing to write a check for me, against a payment by some other means;
    talk to a US bank with an office in London, such as Citibank;
    telephone your former bank and see if they could issue a money order fast against payment by credit or debit card.

    Thanks for the suggestion but..
    It will take 2 weeks at least :think:
    If it's the bank they have to send it to my family (US Address), and they have to FEDEX it to me, too complicated and expensive.

    I have to send the forms and everything with a money order, so they cannot send the Money Order for me, there's no one to talk to in the government you know.
    My family doesn't want to deal with forms, they never sent forms to the government before haha, so I cannot ask them to do it for me, they are just like that, don't ask me why.

    There's no way of getting this Money Order thing from the UK somewhere, I have tried Citibank already, cannot help me, too bad there is no Wells Fargo in the UK... (sigh)
  • I found only 1 option so far, but it's too damn expensive:

    £800 Flight to US today, coming back tomorrow, I will have time to issue money order and even mail my form, but the cost is too much :naughty:

    I will just mention that my account with Citibank in London does not charge any fees. However, it took a while to open it.
