In B's (and Natasha's) favour, many more boys are diagnosed with ASCs than girls, anything from a 2:1 ratio to a 15:1 ratio depending on the exact criteria you use. Although there is a suggestion that a lot of girls go undiagnosed, because their behaviours often aren't as aggressive/disruptive, and therefore don't get picked up by the school etc. And also because girls are perhaps more adept at developing coping/disguising strategies.

    Morning All:j

I haven't got an advent calendar this year :( first time in 19 years! My mum usually sends me one, but I think Egypt was a bit far to send to!

Well we have had an incredibly eventful couple of days to cut a long story short we had quite a bit of cash stolen from the house (equivalent to £700) and so did I neighbours, anyway the person was caught red handed in the owners wardrobe! After my flat mate spending 5 hours in the police station with the neighbours they found a bag of money (in different currencies, and conveniently in the amounts they were stolen in) in the thief's house, watches, handbags etc. We invited this guy to parties, cooked for him now and then (he is the gardener/maid/security) its horrible to think he has been going through our things. But anyway my flatmate has had to go to court an hour away to state her case, so hopefully we will get our money back. :j

Other news; the job I applied for in upper Egypt, well received an email this morning saying they are not sure of the structure for Egypt yet but they will keep my CV on file . . . . So that's my decision made for me . . . its back to the UK for me! Just got to decide xmas here or UK, can make more money in UK (contacts with a catering company who always want waitresses for evening/weekend, my shift in the pub is waiting for me, (xmas eve and new yrs eve is very good pay) and I can get a head start applying for jobs. But then again I'm scared of being on my own at xmas (my family split up, mum lives in Devon, dad lives an hour from me) so xmas has never been great as I'm just not family orientated any more, it hurts too much! And also its the first xmas with out my bf. So don't want to go home to get really low again (that was the reason of me travelling for a while). Why isn't life easy! But its nice to see I am not the only one!:confused

Hello all, I know what you mean Snaggs, our two had the first MMR jab but not the 2nd pre-school one.

Can we ever be 100% sure that we're doing the right thing?

I've been cleaning up this morning and big sis (k_bagpuss) is popping round for a coffee after her meeting in sunny Bradford.
Hopefully I will be able to relieve her of some of her heavy wine burden

It was -2 this morning, took ages to scrape the ice from the car, I've got tights and jeans on for extra snugness. The cavity wall insulation has made a massive difference to the house, Jess's room used to be freezing and the whole room is cosy now, not just next to the heater like before, it retains the heat too :T

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Late-onset autism is actually very common, and is on the increase (not sure whether the number of children affected is increasing, or just the number of children being diagnosed).

There are many theories and not a lot of answers, which considering the scale of the problem, is absolutely crazy, and incredibly frustrating.

    Thanks Ames and Luc.

No Ames....sorry didn't see it last night. Just posted (ranted) and then went to bed. I have enough trouble keeping up with the current day's chat that I never think to look back at the day before's.....

Will get my paperwork together then and head to CAB but will write my letter to the Council tonight re the overpayment. It's a bummer that I will lose so much each month, but if I'm not entitled to it then fair enough I suppose.

It is worrying but then I also think a lot more are now diagnosed as autistic where are before they would have been a naughty child or one that has learning difficulties

No don't shut up Sal.....its important to discuss such issues...I had Chloe immunised. Only because I don't know anyone with autism and by this time the evidence had been retracted. After seeing my sister so ill with measles made me quite uneasy about her not having it....but as Snags said....do we ever really know we are doing for the best...
