  • tbf the newspapers and tv are definitely biased towards the political party you dislike the most. You hardly hear about it anywhere - i only get one newspaper for this reason as its the only place you can read balanced articles about the media bias in the other newspapers imo

Through the haze of anger, folks appear to have missed the fact that Mr Goldsmith has stated he'll drop his non-dom status next year.

So whilst he is not important, he is enjoying a beneficial tax status, but once he moves into a more public role, he is switching to an ordinary tax status?. So whats the problem?

Besides, remember all of HMRC/Treasury property is financed via a sales and lease back agreement with an off-shore property developer who pays no taxes on the income they earn....from the rental they earn from the HMRC buildings where HMRC people chase tax dodgers.

So if the Treasury/HMRC are happy to deal with off-shore tax haven developers who pay no tax, so can one bloke who doesn't even represent the country/government in power.
Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.

Pretty much everyone evades taxes in a legal way. Got an ISA or a pension? Ever brought back cigarettes or booze from Europe? It's the same thing.

Legally this is avoidance. As you point out EVERYONE avoids tax, by claiming a personal allowance. Evasion is illegal they are not the same thing.
I take it you mean tax paid cigarettes & booze for personal use on which no further duty is due.
If you don't agree with the rules OK but you have to cure the illness to get rid of the symptoms.
The only thing that is constant is change.

Presumably his promise kicks in after the election
and it may be of a similar quality to Lord Ashcroft's promise made when he was elevated to the Lords.

  • the man has done nothing illegal. good luck to him. we would all do the same if we were in his position. and those that wouldn't are fools.

he pays plenty more tax in this country than anyone else on this board and probably costs the country a lot less than some on here.

I don't want to pay taxes. I don't happen, however, to be living non domiciled in Richmond.

How can you argue that this is fair but some poor person who claims benefits (who is doing nothing wrong either) gets pages of bile written about them in the Tory Press (and on this board) and that is OK?

    Why are you ranting?

Have you taken your tablets today?;)
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

Tory Zac Goldsmith admits he is a non-dom

Bet this won't be on the front page of the Sun tomorrow. Millions he's cost the tax payer.

Bet he paid more tax than you did.

Same goes for benefits. Doesn't stop claimants appearing on the front pages of newspapers does it?

And so if the rules are wrong change them.
