The value curry sauce is on the bottom shelf in my tesco too. I have bought 2 tins but not got round to using it yet, my step dad liked it and he is a very fussy eater.0

Just wanted to join in and congratulate you mbaz, I think you're doing so well. It just goes to show what you can live on when you need to and plan for it.
Tesco value curry sauce is a staple in our house, as someone sais it's mild enough for the kids and I always mix it in with the rice before serving it up so the family don't realise how little meat is in the curry! The value sweet and sour is beautiful too, tastes just like chinese takeaway sauce.
Good luck for the rest of the month, you're so nearly there!DMP mutual support number 199Debt free in [strike]2025[/strike] 2018 (hopefully a lot sooner!):j Smokefree since 10pm 2/7/08 :jBaby no.3 due 29/04/20110 -

Mbaz are you managing to stay within your £20 budget,? I have found this week I have a budget of £30 for 4 of us but I still find I have to buy extra (in this case DD1 has presented me with alist of stuff she needs for her cooking lesson ) there always seems to be something i havent accounted for. How do you manage if this happens to you?0 -

What lentils do I use to bulk up dishes, is the red or green that are more versatile.

lilly - shame on you indeedy! lol! I use normal value oats to bulk out my mince, couple of handfuls to about 1lb of mince, don't forget they will absorb liquid so you will need a little more than usual. Also I do mine in the slow cooker so they have plenty of time to be absorbed and hidden, but if you're doing them on the hob just keep an eye on them to make sure they vanish! It does make the texture a bit different, sort of slightly creamy, just so you aren't surprised when you stir it!
Strawberrylaces - red lentils are the ones that vanish - again don't forget that they absorb liquid so you'll need extra! I don't think they really change the texture much on their own, and if there are any odd bits that are spotted you can pass them off as grated carrot if you have to!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
is the tesco value curry sauce nice? and is it something i could use to make a curry with for tea one night, then heat up the leftovers for lunch the next day? or is it a bit too 'value' for that purpose?
on the subject of tesco value - i love the tesco value chicken noodles (think they are still 9p) on toast with cheese on top... mmmmmmmmm!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0
