I have been with Plusnet for 5 years.No complaints.I get good speeds and good Uk based customer service.However I dont use P2P.

Go with Zen its rock solid speeds.

In fairness lots of things can effect speeds, the distance, equipments sometimes, contention

I have been with Zen for 5 years only leaving them now because I want faster adsl speeds as I was capped at 2mb because product not because of other factors, I had a 100gb cap

I will be only adsl2 some time today using LLU

I used plus net years ago, they were fine until they introduced caps and put on a bad boy pipe. I was getting less than 5kb/sec regardless of time of day

I've been with Plusnet for almost 3 years after leaving Tiscrapi. Their customer support has dropped a little since recently removing the UK call centres but they still have knowledgable UK support people who frequent their forums.

I've always been on their Pro service because I like to game and so long as I stick to the 20GB limit my speeds are consistent regardless of time of day.

Cant speak for the lower packages but my general impression of Plusnet is that if you want an ISP that can actually trace and fix faults then they are not a bad choice.

Technically no.
MB = Mega Bytes
kb = Kilobits
1 byte = 8 bits.
so 8MB = 8000kB = 64000kb.

ADSL speed is Megabits (Mb).

Plusnet can be a very good option for those with limited choices of an ISP.

Check your end is working fine then contact them.

first 8 Mbs means does not mean 8000kbs as mentioned above if this was the speed of your line you would prob get just about 1 Megabyte as download speed and even if you live in the exchange you still only get a sync speed of 7.2Mbs as 0.8 Mbs is reserved for other purposes so even the above speed will never happen
second what package are you on, what are doing when you get these speeds if you are using p2p and not on the pro package your line is restricted at certian times to certian speeds i use plus net and they have been perfect i am on the pro package and my download on p2p is 4.11 Mbs around, 480 kilobytes per sec, the fastest my line can reach all the time and customer support is usually pretty solid

You are confusing sync with download.

The highest sync on plain ADSL is 8128kbps. BTw IP profiling limits the maximum download rate to 7.15Mbps of which some is still overhead.

Away from the BTw system maximum download is ~ 84% of sync rate due to the various overheads.

The problem as I see it with the PlusNet cheap packages is that they guarantee you high speeds for things that don't really need it such as browsing, email, and VoIP but penalise the one area where high speed actually makes any difference - downloading. They are still better than many though because many of the big names give abysmal speeds for everything.

yeah that is right but the expected speeds are explained on the website before you take out the product
