  • OP I hope you called a Vet & the Dog is ok? It does get to me tho when people will come on here to ask others who don't know their pet & haven't seen it & aren't in most cases Vets rather than just phone & ask the Vet, all vets here have 24hr cover & someone answers the phone who will give advice, don't think you're getting the Vet out of bed, most seem to have Nurses or Receptionists? who are there & even if they themselves get up in the night they shouldn't mind a call to check rather than leave it & then later on it becomes a real emergency

Snowmans reply is actually very apt :) If it's something that if it were you that you'd call NHS direct, ambulance etc for then CALL THE VET, if you'd be happy waiting till morning to see a GP then call vet in the morning to get an appointment :)

If you allow smoking in your house then perhaps he's suffering from passive smoking. My little cat wheezed because of my smoking, then I gave up and her breathing problem stopped and never came back. Of course you may not have a smoky home - but just thought I should mention the possibility in case there is a link there.

I'd say phone the vet ASAP. GSD had this occur as well and she had to be put down as she had a tumour in her chest cavity

I do it all because I'm scared.
  • And, yes - dogs can and do get asthma. Neighbour's dog has recently developed this since they acquired a kitten.
