My husband has just received the Notice of Intended Litigation with a predicted amount outstanding of £253.75 increased from the original Enforcment Notice of £90 (£45 for prompt payment). He's not happy as he is the RK and not the driver. Now we are getting worried, especially as issue fees etc are quite low for Debt Recovery Plus. How far are the debt recovery agency likely to go? Any advice?0

They might send a couple of letters, then one from a solicitor (real or pretend) then they should lose interest in you. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

But the issuance of real court papers is very very doubtful, and if they do your husband wins very simply.0 -
They are very naughty people and they should be put in the naughty corner for sending letters like that.
They won't really take you to court which makes them fibbers as well as naughty, naughty boys.
It might be worth you paying the £45 [even though you don't have to]......... just so that your husband stops nagging and moaning about it.0 -
Thanks again for all the advice0

Doesn't matter who the PPC is, they tend to follow the same well-trodden path of standard letters designed to frighten you.
By way of illustration, here is a pictogram of the Euro Car Parks letterchain:

and here's the same sort of letterchain by NCP:

(many thanks to Alx*27 for posting these links ages ago).
Notice that they all use 'debt recovery' letter-heading and some use 'solicitor' letter-heading - don't fall for the scam now you've got this far - you are near the end and they'll give up!
The private parking company will NOT take you to Court, and a Debt collection agency cannot do anything at all except bother you (which can be construed as harassment, which IS illegal)!
There is zero effect on your credit rating, nothing happens at all. Do NOT contact them, don't worry about this scam another jot. Show the links to your husband, the only reason we only have 2 versions so far is because it's a work in progress on here, just started.
Bunny1, maybe when they've stopped sending you letters you can provide a new letter-series post to help others, there is a sticky thread for this purpose on this board here:

HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Or in other words PLEASE PLEASE send us something, anything! This is a sign of absolute desperation, I'd say you are very close to, if not at, the end.0 -
Round 6 : There has been a twist!
After a calming period from the letters of threat ..Now, I have received a 'Debt Purchased' letter claiming that a different company (Parking Collection Services Limited) has purchased the debt and is going to pursue it. They are begging me to pay a reduced price otherwise they will go legal!..Is this a new letter not yet on the pictogram scam chart!
Anybody heard about these crooks/scammers?0
