Been having problems with IE8 for a couple of weeks after installing avg9 decided to uninstall IE8 AVG and start again. Couldnt uninstall IE8 as sp3 service pack had been installed after IE8. So as per the advice i uninstalled SP3
Restarted with the intention of removing IE however the computer only opens up the page which allows you to go into safe mode etc
The options to use safe mode, windows normally, etc dont work. When i click on them it goes no signal then back to this page.

What do you mean by "no signal"? Nothing on display? Have you tried a System Restore to a previous good known working state (although I know you state "a couple of wks")?0

Cant get any further than this page. It opens the page you would get if you F8 but when i select any of the options it takes me back to the same page0
-
Still unclear what you mean by "the same page"? So, at the moment you cannot boot into Windows. You have tried the option to enter Safe Mode. What about The "Last Known Good Configuration" option?0

Hello
It's a known issue with some pc's. Put your recovery disc in and boot off that then select the repair current installation option.0 -
so will i lose all files? off to find recovery disk( hope i have it) could i just F110
-
The "Last Known Good Configuration" option: you will not lose files with that (should not do), but you might lose recently installed programs because the configuration for those programs may have been lost.0
-
no, repair installation only repairs windows system folders, all your other files are left alone. You may have to download new updates though.0

While your thinking along the right lines this is a known issue. All options in the initial boot up screen don't work and result in the pc restarting including last good config.
The solution i've posted is quick and works.0 -
