  • Hello everyone!

    Today I have:

Planted the rest of the red tulip bulbs (still have some iris to go, though!) because the weather was so mild here...
Planted 4m of mixed hedgerow with help from a man in the village who does odd-jobs in gardens
    Strained and frozen duck stock
Found and cleaned up my old Breville sandwich maker to give to a friend

Need to stop early and dash off to request a repeat prescription before I run out. I certainly do not wish to join team yellow, pink or blue!

I have stripped our bed and chucked it in the WM, and put a bottle of white in the fridge for tonight. Fetched some logs in, stroked all four cats. Collected the mugs and glasses from round the house and emptied and filled the DW.

I think when you're not feeling well or strong, it's probably better to do things in small short batches. You don't say how many people you have to wash for, but could you just keep on top of the urgent stuff by washing things like underwear out on a daily basis and leaving them to drip dry on an airer of some kind over the bath. These days people seem to think everything they wear should be just worn for one day and then thrown into the laundry bin but when I was a child during the war, we often had to wear clothes for the best part of a week as there were no washing machines then and no tumble driers. We all had to make our clothes last as long as possible before washing because drying them through much of the year was a nightmare. And don't make yourself a martyr to ironing. Give your clothes a good shake when they come out of the washing machine and often most of the creases will fall out naturally, especially if you can dry them outdoors in the breeze.
