Evening all
I'm in, and DH has promised to help so I'm aiming for 5 stars this week. Things have slipped a little around here lately. It still looks ok, but not sparkly! I'm off work tomorrow (I love flexi time) and have a few things planned including meeting friend for coffee at 11am, bit of shopping (and food top up) whilst I'm in bromley, blood tests, and flying in one room, though possibly not the living room as DH has offered to do that and I hate washing the floors - his job! Bathroom and kitchen need doing though and I'm out Tuesday eve so I might do one or both of them.
Had a lovely day with friends, went through the Blackwall tunnel (right past my office!) and had a good run, on the way back not so good - as soon as we got on the road there was a 'blackwall tunnel closed' sign, but ages til the next junction and thought M25 would be a nightmare, so decided to go via Central London! I'm very proud of myself as I navigated us through the East End and over Tower Bridge, from where DH knew the way home. All that walking and buses around the east end in my old job had some benefits!! Still took a long time as traffic extra heavy with 2 tunnels shut, but we made it. I've never driven in central london before, so pleased with myself! Then we had a cuppa and crumpets at DH's parents, nice to chat with them.
Hugs to all the poorlies, and in fact to all.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
I'm in again this week, thanks to Pigpen, Toots and Soappie for the thread.
I have a mega busy week this week so not trying to get stars but will use the lists to keep on top of everything.
It was DS birthday today so we had a lovely day [he is 7 today] and its his party on Tuesday so he's excited about that.
Must finish Xmas shopping this week and thats a must cos after this week we have no money for it!!!!
Will post my list in a min as I'm on page 1 so a few pages of reading to catch up with.
Take care everyone

Just had the quote for the rest of the garden work through... more than I thought, and it's still an estimate (very badly worked out too!). Oh, and it doesn't include putting in the new shed. I was expecting the quote on Friday, so I'd have time to review it over the weekend, but it was sent late tonight and they're going to be between 9am and 9.30am tomorrow. I'm not sure when the woodstove people are getting here!
Lots of things are quoted at single unit cost, with no indication as to how many of them there will be. And once I'd added it up, 37 man days of labour (mind you, if they knock off at 3pm every day, I'm not surprised it would take that long .
So I need to decide what the priorities are, what I can do myself, and how I'm going to negotiate this. I know it's a major piece of work, but I simply don't have this kind of money (and I told them that right at the beginning). For a start, I'd expect to see a discount for this amount of work... and secondly, I'm going to try to get a fixed price as I know what will happen otherwise! I suppose I'll have to find a few other people to come and quote, which will delay things further...
Any thoughts/suggestions gratefully received...0 -
