£9.99 Broadband + Anytime UK Calls from Euro1Net

If you flick through the forums (past the front page as well). The recurring theme that seems to come up mostly is bad speeds. There are more complaints about this collectively than any other subject. This points to congestion on the network.
I posted the link so people can see for themselves what users are saying. It is always better to get an idea from other users about an ISPs service before you sign up. From what I see, the majority of complaints are about speed at peak time. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Which company would you recommend then, if not this one? I'm not going for TalkTalk because they don't allow use of other phone companies which are way cheaper for intl calls (and please spare me the tosh from Martin's article saying they do, because they don't - they simply charge higher rates than BT for 0844 - they say they charge the same but when the bill comes it's a whole different story  Why don't they just allow the prefix numbers to be dialled in the first place? )
I'm aware of Plusnet's recent offer, but there are no special prices even if line rental is switched to them

I notice that the various deals and prices available from Euro1Net look extremely similar to the offers perviously made by e7even - who have now gone bust, leaving prepaid customers up a big creak without a paddle.
In fact, even the whole contact method (iffy £1/min line) and general layout reminds me of e7even - is this a bad omen.
An another thing, possibly not a good consideration after just signing up, as the broadband is "free" with the talk and surf tariff, where do you stand on the whole credit card refund aspect if the service paid for (ie free landline calls) is actuallt being provided, but the "free" broadband is not - you can't refund something that is free. Does this mean Talk and Surf customers would not have the same credit card protection if Euro1Net joins e7even in the broadband graveyard.0 -
Just a couple of things...
There is a £30 connection fee to be aware of (presumably this will be the charge for moving the service if you move house).
From the fair usage policy: "Please be aware we will give priority to light users over heavy users at peak times." Of course, their definition of a 'heavy user' could be anything, as could 'peak times'.0 -
I'm with Euro1net (not talk & surf) and the peak times are:
General Internet peak times are during the day at weekends and 6pm to 11pm weekdays.0 -
Does anybody know if you can bypass their system and use the cheap 0844 numbers to make international calls?
otherwise, this sounds like a fantastically good deal to me.0 -

any particular countries you want to phone regularly ?Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
I'm assuming this is just a CPS thing as you still have to pay BT for you line don't you? So I think you'd still be able to us things like 1899, am I right?0

Yes, actually: UAE, Abu Dhabi, India, Russia, S.Africa.payless wrote:any particular countries you want to phone regularly ?
TalkTalk will just stand in the way of my low low prices with my various providers for each destination.
Also not a big fan of the way you have to dial whatever 5-digit code it is before the "free" intl calls with TalkTalk - its geared so people forget the code then get charged. Scam really :rolleyes:0 -
have TT actually stopped predial yet, 18866 still works on mine, albeit don't use it
Have you tried an using a 07744 number from a mobile??Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
