£9.99 Broadband + Anytime UK Calls from Euro1Net

Hey hey
I've found this interesting offer which unlike TalkTalk, doesn't ask for your line rental and thus block you from calling through other call networks - they actually want you to keep it with BT and just pay them £9.99 for unlimited daytime UK calls and the broadband. Sounds good. Only thing is it needs to be paid 18 months in advance, almost similar to the TalkTalk thing (18 month contract). If you use a credit card I guess you'll be protected if they go belly-up - I know I am if I use my barclaycard... here are the details from their site...
Up to 8Mb broadband absolutely FREE!
Inclusive calls to all 01 and 02 UK numbers
What’s the procedure to join Talk & Surf?
It’s easy; if you would like to join us, simply enter your telephone number into the 'number checker' on our 'Home page' to check availability or use the space provided below, then follow the registration procedure.
Once you have joined, we will start the order process. You will be sent an order confirmation email and given access to the online order tracking system which will be updated with the current progress of your order.
Your calls should be switched in around 21 days and your broadband will be ordered in around 28 days, however your subscription will not begin until your call service has been activated.

What do ya think?? It looks ok to me...

You have to pay 18 months service upfront. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Anyone looked into this one yet?

appears ok - their service is excellent - but having paid £240 two months ago for their £10 per month pay up front service, I don't really want to look too hard!

Reading the T&C's, they have a 50GB usage limit, which is good.0

That's what the thread is all about... :rolleyes:paddytt wrote:Anyone looked into this one yet?

Yeah it seems pretty good to me - only thing is the paying up front - but on a credit card I guess they will refund if the company turns nasty/bankrupts.
I haven't noticed Martin say anything about this yet in the articles but I may have just missed them
Has he? 0 -
Students should stay away from such companies as they charge about £60.00 for moving the broadband to new premises.UK online ,Tiscali is also in same boat.No idea about Talk Talk.AOL,Telewest moves the broadband to new premises for free so i prefer to stick with them.0

I've just signed up for the 18 month package by credit card. I read all the Euro1net feedback I could find. I'm actually quite happy with dial-up, but in conjuction with the free landline calls this seems to offer a solution that will be no more expensive than my current dial-up arrangements.
The only issues some people seem to have are poor speeds - but as I'm only used to 56K I guess anything will be OK for me!!
I will only be using my Talk & Surf package for email, light web surfing (internet shopping etc) and free phone calls. As my expectations are not as high as some, hopefully I'll be happy.0 -

Personally I don't think there is anything good about being capped at all.
I've been on broadband since 1998/1999 overseas and never once had any issues regarding limits of use.
Only rip-off Britain imposes such tosh.
However, saying that, we curently use Tiscali which has a 30GB "cap" so this is certainly "good" by comparison
You have to laugh at those folks that sign up for 8M broadband with 2GB caps

if anyones got any sense they'll stay away, or just ask E7Even customers about paying upfront for 2 years internet service.0

A couple of tips for anyone thinking of signing up for this service.
First go to the Euro1Net forum at ADSLGuide to see what other users of this service are saying. This will give you an idea of how it is performing. There are lots of complaints about slow speeds at peak times (evenings). This indicates too much congestion on the service (too many users for too little bandwidth available).
If you pay for 18 months up front. Pay by credit card (not debit card). This way, if there is a major problem with the service during your contract period and the company wont refund you (or if they go bust), your credit card company will be equally liable for any refunds due. As many E7 users have found, it is easier to get a refund from your credit card than from a company in trouble. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You say that there are lots of complaints but i have had a look. imo I think its a little unfair to say that there have been lots of complaints. Yes people may have had issues but I can't see "lots of complaints".
In fact some seem quite happy with the service.0
