Hi,
I've got an air vent in my bedroom which is making the room freezing even when it's in the closed position. I've tried sticking paper on it / cling film - neither of which really worked.
Other than sleeping with my head under the quilt and wearing thermals for the next 3 months can anyone suggest anything?
I'm tempted to rip it off the wall and stick 10 Tesco bags in the hole to stop the draft. Is it worth looking to buy a new one which hopefully wouldn't let a draft through? Any recommendations?
Thanks

you can remove the vent and fill the hole fill with fibreglass. then replace the vent cover.
or (MSE job) just tape it over with duct tape?Get some gorm.0 -

Gaffer tape... adheres strongly but can be removed cleanly.
How much of a residue does Duck Tape leave?
Which might keep the heat in more? The below suggests I shouldn't be too worry about leaving a mess on the vent.

Good afternoon: before taking advice on how to block off the vent, make sure it isn't there for reasons of gas safety (sufficient ventilation). Fit one of these.

Be careful that the air vent isn't there for a reason - we have one in our living room because of a gas boiler.
If there is no reason for the air vent other than 'comfort' - try cutting a piece of polystrene to fit, and then using the expanding foam to hold it in place.......Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

This looks to be what I need:

if you do have a modern RS boiler in the bedroom, you dont need an air vent.
i would always keep the vent and just block it off temp for the winter.
then reinstate it for the spring/summer.Get some gorm.0
