Hi lbt,
This older thread may help:
Milk powder in BM
I'll merge your thread with that one later to keep all the replies together.

Sorry Gingham, I was off searching while you posted!0

I use neither fat or powdered milk these days.
I tend not to use the breadmaker to do it all - but use the dough cycle then bug in a tin for an hour or so to rise and into the oven.
I use 450ml water, 750mg strong flour, quick yeast, approx tsp salt and approx tspn sugar. Turns out pretty darn good if I might say so myself.
I may add a glug of olive oil and some oregano if it's for pizza dough - or not - it's good either way :T0 -
The only things you really need for bread are flour, water, yeast. Salt is good, as is some oil or butter, but they are not essential. All Art is the transfiguration of the commonplace

Thanks everyone - this is great. I am determind to get to grips with my BM. At least hubby will not be able to complain about more unused gadgets!!!
Thanks Jenny. I'll give your recipe a try. Is that a sachet of quick yeast?
My BM is a bit funny, in that one corner always comes out floury as if it hasn't mixed properly. Not sure what I am doing wrong  Perhaps I should stir everything myself?
Will check through the threads to see if anyone else has the same problem.0 -

do u think the tesco value will be ok for this. or should i go for a better brand. i am not planning on drinking it or using it in drinks just purely for bread maker.

Hi jcr,
I use tesco own brand and it's fine. Posts on another thread earlier today suggest that you don't need milk powder at all:
Bread making advice please
Good luck with the baby and don't worry about your brain turning to mush.......it comes back again eventually!0 -
thank's for that.
i don't use milk powder at the mo. but instead when it asks for water and milk powder i put use skimmed milk instead.
but as bread price going up so much , i thought i want to try and make it how it meant to be made .0
