very nearly a NSD today - needed bread as everyone had a fancy for cheese on toast - just like the advert - was hoping to put it off till my last shop tomorrow
will pop into Mr W for a salmon for new year guests and a top up at Mr L with some goodies as I really hate going out on new years day - just a personal thingI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long

As I left work tonight, the lady who comes in for the last shift pointed out how many meat and fruit pies were left - which meant there were likely to be looooaaaaads to be Whoopsied.
So I came home, got changed, made and ate tea, and then headed straight back down..... and it paid off
I picked up
1x Rhubarb Pie [strike]£1.19[/strike] 29p
2x 2 Potato & Meat Pies [strike]£1.50[/strike] 35p each
1x pack 6 Sugared Ring Donuts (for DS) [strike]69p[/strike] 19p
1x pack 6 mini Danish (for me) [strike]£1.29[/strike] 19p
1x 2.3kg Turkey Breast Joint [strike]£16.43[/strike] £4.25
1x 2.4kg Turkey Breast Joint [strike]£17.09[/strike] £4.35
So a total spend of £9.97 (less £1 staff discount, so cost to me £8.97) on goods worth £39.69 :T
The potato & meat pies are now packed individually and in the freezer
I cut each of the turkey joints into 3 joints (not as evenly as I would have liked, but none too small for 2 of us plus some for sandwiches) - so we've got roast turkey once a month for Jan through June :rolleyes2
With a little bit of wriggling I managed to get 4 of the joints into my freezers, but couldn't see anywhere for the other 2I ended up 'decanting' what was left of my Raspbery Ripple ice cream into a smaller tub - such a shame I had to eat a portion of it that just wouldn't squeeze in
This then left space for the last two joint.
I now have just £3.88 of my annual grocery budget left - but there's no way I can stock up on Whoopsied meat tomorrow however good the discounts, as I just can't see anywhere else in my freezer to put anything (although I will be using the last of the chips on Friday, so could keep some meat in the fridge until they come out - if I could only find some space in my fridge :rotfl: )Cheryl0 -

Spent £40 yesterday as we had an impromptu gathering of a few people.... so declaring at £421.32 for the month, which considering we had to pay £50 for Christmas dinner (don't ask!) I am quite pleased with, even if it is over budget!
I think I will do a quick recce of the cupboard and freezer before I post a target for Jan

I've kind of fallen by the wayside with this months GC - I blame christmas (definitely not me and my lack of self-control no nooo ). Ended up slightly over budget, declaring £211 and some pennies.
January will be a much better month I am sure.

I'm declaring for December - £447.43 from an original budget of £400
Not too happy as I was on track until the start of the school holidays, but I know where it's gone, and it was treats (including 2 trips to McDs - well it is Christmas) and a complete lunch cupboard restock (I'd run it to empty before the break to give me space for the Christmas bits), so it shouldn't happen again.
On the plus side, my shopping skills are improving, and I had 18 NSDs in a 35 day month - the most I've ever managed
I'm well stocked for the new year, so am setting my budget a bit lower than usual in the hope of finally cracking it - can I go on the January list at £280 for a 4 week month pleaseDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Well Im not sure if I under or over honestly for 2009 but Im gonna be brave and say Im probably a little over. Had a NSD yesterday and today. The cupboards and freezer are so full I couldnt get any more in if I tried so altho Im guessing on an overspend I also guestimate I have approx £400 worth of food in the house!
So-brand new spending diary for tomorrow(an old book I will hunt out tonight).
We have got us all free diaries and calendars from our places of employment so no spending there. Ive also got a £50 clothes voucher to spend which I was given at work for Christmas and I still have it 3 weeks after being given it so I can spend that in the sales guiltfree in 2010. Meanwhile Im living off the stock I have apart from bread milk and eggs in general. Tonight I made clocolate pudding with some dry choc cake, some left over betty crocker choc filling, warmed it in the micro with a tiny bit of hot water. Topped it off with custard made with cornflour and vinilla and sugar/milk as I have no custard powder left. Well-vanilla custard I called it! Determined that if I can do things like this more often I will use up some old stock and save money for January.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
