December 2009 Grocery Challenge
Comments

Hi all
Confession time - I've just found a couple more receipts for Christmas Eve! - I had a sneaking feeling I'd spent more than £8.31 but with all the shunting stuff around to tidy up for Christmas they'd got separated from my notebook.
I'm a bit miffed as I don't usually 'lose' receipts and have been quite meticulous (can you be quite meticulous?) in writing stuff down.
Anyway will update sig. (sigh)
And I've just chipped half a tooth off on a walnut..Merry Christmas:mad: anyway it doesn't hurt so I think it will wait a while!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
I'm declaring£148 for December yay on budget this month- its does help that I've been away over Christmas, but never the less very pleased with December, especially as it was five weeks shopping!
Ok I'd like to pledge £130 for January please, first shop on Saturday! Good luck al.Debt free 11/05/11!
Savings £4000/ £3000 -
3x4pt milk for me today (£3.27) - can't believe how much we've got through since Thursday with elder DS being home
But the last 3 days have been NSDs :TCheryl0 -
Declaring £120.67 for December's grocery challenge - under budget - WOO WOO - but had a little bit of help with our nector points and savings stamps.
Please put me down for £175 for January 2010.
Thank you.Mortgage FreeSave £5,000 in 2020[CENTER:j0 -
Slightly blew the budget for December with £140.90 £20.90 overspend oops
Still start anew with January at £120.00 as I can usually keep to it quite well. Hopefully it will be an underspend in January as I have stacks of stuff in the freezer and cupboards so lots of NSDs ahead.Especially if the weather changes to snow again as I cannot get out then.
I was going to go to Icelands to get some milk today but realised I have two litres of longlife in the fridge so I have no shopping to buy until Satyrday at least as I have lots of fruit and veg still to eat.
Happy New year to you all and good luck with the new coming month:beer:0 -
Helen, can you put me down for £350 in January please. Set a high target of £600 for Dec and seem to be coming in under it quite easily. This includes all the food. toiletries and house stuff for a family of 3 (and sometimes 5) adults, as well as a big golden retriever....not to mention the birds in the garden!
Freezer and cupboards are still quite full, so hope to make it under £350...even with DS1 (and GF sometimes. though she doesn't eat very much!) here until the 9th...amazing how quickly food has been disappearing lately!!
Need to do a stock-take of the freezer, fridge and cupboards, today/tomorrow and plan meals for most of Jan...hopefully!
DH is off out to get milk and a few things we have run out of (mixed herbs, cinnamon, paper hankies and soap - an odd selection!). He is only going to the local Mr T Metro, so won't get suckered in with offers - hopefully..he is much better than me!!
I will post my final spending for December at the end of the week.

pleased to report a nsd on food.
took dd to the sales, put the biscuit tin in the car and she had a couple before getting out at the park and ride. dd had a gift voucher from friends for m and s, after carefully looking at the books, smellies, gifts and toys, she decided to check out the sweets. She was in the queue ready to buy herself a ring donut and a big gold piggybank (oh my, more clutter...) , we had a discussion about why she needed the piggybank as she had one already, and good girl, she put down the piggybank, picked out a pack of percy pigs by the till (cos the sweets inside were why she wanted the said pb), and chose a gingerbread fairy too. So a nsd for me as she bought her own nibbles!
put veggies into the slow cooker before we went to make soup for our return, nowhere near cooked when we got back, so pasta for lunch and sc now on high til teatime and hopefully will be cooked then ...nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.
Me, 10 yo dd, and the dog. all food and drinks, in and out, plus household shopping.0 -
Declaring at £439.11 for December. Even though I went over budget this is the least I have ever spent at Christmas so Im not too unhappy.
Next month will be tight so put please put me down for £240 in January.NSD 0/150 -
I've gone over my £70 target for this month, spent £82.20. Which isn't bad, considering it was xmas & I bought myself a few foody treats. Might need to buy another bag of dog food as I don't think I can hold out till the first, so total will prob end up £92.20
Going to put in for £70 again for JanuaryDebt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!
