"The more I think about it the more down I feel and OH is no use whatsoever, he thinks the 'bah humbug' routine is amusing but it just makes me want to sit down and blub. I think after years of planning and excecution of the festive stuff I have finally hit meltown".

jayjay feel exactly the same must be a man thing (sorry if offends any men reading this) or do they still believe that santa brings all the pressies and that the fairies make the prep for the dinner while the little gnomes do the housework and the goblins work out how much there is in the budget? and you sit with your feet up enjoying the festive break.
hopefully you'll feel a bit more upbeat tomorrow - had a day like yours yesterday but got up at 6 this morning and ordered a lot of chrissy pressies on line (using all the discount codes of course) and made a list of what i still needed, used mysupermarket to figure out christmas shop which i'll order later in the week to be delivered christmas week at some point, now i feel more in control - just need to get off my backside as big as it is and make a couple of christmas cakes (the elves are on strike)

    take care

    Hi everyone,

Haven't been online in the last couple of days so just wanted to say a huge thank you to those who commented on MrL's best buys and directed me to the thread. I am going tomorrow, and will report back!

Small spend today on ingredients for DH's mango chutney. He makes it once a year and it's a real palava! Anyhow, he is just decanting it now into the jars and it's going to taste great.

    Have a good evening all.

    Hello everyone,

cw18 Sorry to hear you have been having probs with your dog as well. We are finding the expense of the PD for ours, really difficult and have checked loads of sites but cannot find anything less than around £20 for 12 cans. She is supposed to have 3 cans a day (very big dog) so it's a bit difficult at the moment. I'm going to keep looking though, as we really cannot afford an extra £150 per month!!

Made DH and me a nice roast dinner today to cheer us up and had to have a little shop at MrC will sort receipts later and add to total for this month. NSD yesterday.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

...i checked the delivery options and there were very few available in my area, mr T fully booked all week already, and sainsburys, asda had a couple of slots on the sunday before...

if you do a tesco one, you can edit the order on the tesco site before the day so might be worth booking your slot now with a notional shop?
    nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.
Me, 10 yo dd, and the dog. all food and drinks, in and out, plus household shopping.
  • Had a big shop for the month today.

Makros - pack of 12 savloies, 2kg of grated cheese and 600g of turkey slices - Total £12
Mr S - Milk and oats to last us to the new year, brocs, butters, yog and some creams - £21.

I now have £21.00 left in the food money bag, so I guess I have spent £79 of my £100.

Need to keep £10 for all the carrots & apples we juice, so probably not go shopping again unless we really really have to!

jayjay (((hugs))) - sometimes it all just gets too much doesn't it. My OH is very much the same and although enjoys the benefits of what I do/organise, does little to contribute !

I have allocated him the lounge as his part of the house to keep clean and tidy (under instruction of course!) and bless, he has been doing well-so far  . He is good at doing the dishes too especially when we have guests over although doesn't seem to have grasped where anything goes in the cupboards which tells its own tale

Every year when he gets Christmas cards he mutters "I really should send some" but never does of course but I just ignore that and send my own (only do a few anyway)

So hope you feel a bit better today and get back on track for a lovely Christmas

    Morning all,

Have just got back from MrL. It was okay....not a particularly big store, and couldn't find some of the things I'd been recommended. Don't know whether this is due to seasonal stock or size of store.

Got some beer for DH (Bish0ps Finger, Spitf*re, H0bgoblin) all at £1 a bottle, and 3 x Bl0ssom hill red wine for £10. Other than that I got some frozen hake (4), 1kg lasagna, chicken breast and 3 nice pizzas. Wash n G0 was only 82p so I got 4 bottles as DH and DS1 and DS2 all use it.

Total spend was £51.10 which wasn't too bad, seeing as the alcohol is for Christmas (if it lasts that long :rotfl:).

I now have just over £62 of my GC left and have just 4 meals left to plan for this month. Will no doubt use some of the remainder on Christmas bits as my month ends on 21st and I'd rather get some bits and store/freeze them than rush about at the last minute.

    Have a good day all.

Gah!! When will they learn that 'doing the dishes' includes drying, putting away & wiping down surfaces. And not just washing & leaving them to drip dry.
I wouldn't mind so much if the spoons were left upside down, and not up so they collect water in them & don't dry.

Or am I just picky? :o:p
