I usually recycle them. I can't use soaps etc as I have an allergy.
I have a gift cupboard and all unwanted goes in there. Plus I add anything I find cheap/reduced etc during the yr.
I normally put a post it note on the item so it doesn't go to the same person who gave it to me. The items get used through out the year for birthdays etc.
I buy a lot of smellys from Wilkinsons in the sale just after xmas, and DD and DS use these as presents for their mates.
Last yr I was given slippers, i NEVER wear slippers, so in they went. While round sisters the other day I noticed her slippers were on their last legs, so she'll be getting the slippers LOL Should add she likes the boot type slippers and luckly the ones I have are boots!!!
BUT SKS gave me 4 wine glasses and as we never drink wine, they went in the cupboard, but i either didn't put a label on or its come off. Got no idea who gave them to me, but as they're quite distinctive I'm afraid to pass them on in case I give them to the wrong person.0 -
I do several things with mine. First I put them in a cupboard temporarily and then do either/all of these things:
Take them to the charity shop
or ebay if they are worth it.
Give some of my childrens presents (that I know mine don't want) to their friends as presents for birthdays.
Give them to the Beavers/Cubs on their fundraising days as tombola prizes etc.or to the school for same.
They are your presents, the thought has been there (or not in some cases!) you should feel free to do what you want with them IMO.I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
Put away and give to someone else at a later datehannahsmummy1 wrote: »My family always ask what we would like, i give everybody a list of a few things so they can pick and its still a little bit of a suprise! Put away and give to someone else at a later dateWhat I did with 4 unwanted wine glasses was to make a hamper from a lidded cardboard box covered it all in xmas paper. A wine glass at each corner, in between each glass a mini bottle of wine (the 4 for £5) white, red, rose and sparkling. On each wine glass stem was a wine charm ($1 shop on hol) inside each wine glass was a mini-photo frame (£1-£2 from charity shop). I only bought the wine all the rest was in my gift cupboard, I gave it as a gift to the staff of the after school club my kids attended, and left the 4 of them to sort out who had which wine and charm.
OOOO that's a good thought, I did the little bottle of wine in hamper last yr for an aunt and her new partner, but minus the wine glasses. have already done hers this yr, chocs plus mugs and posh teabags!!! But next yr will be able to do the wine again. esp as it's the box that distinctive not the glasses. So even if it was her that gave them to me she'll never realise:T0 -
