I regifted gifts I got just before christmas (chocs) to my kids;)
They would have eaten them anyway so I wrapped them to add to their 'stash'.
I do regift, but rarely, and save stuff for raffle prizes etc

My mum gave me a pair of PJ's recently that her friend gave her - SHE had had them for xmas (M&S) as a gift and when she took them to exchange them they were already OOS, having been from a previous year! So, tracking through, I think I was AT LEAST the third owner.

Helping my sister do some clearing out recently I threw out
out of date shortbread, 3 boxes of chocs and came home with no end of 'unwanted' gifts which I passed to our neice who is car booting to pay her way through a masters course.

Meant to say I do appreciate gifts but if they don't suit, for whatever reason, keeping them just adds clutter. I don't see why I would keep something I don't like just to appease a giver.

it depends what it is i suppose bottles of wine usually end up as gifts through the year go to parties with etc, gift sets that dont suit either get given as gifts through the year or sold. its not that im been ungrateful some things just dont suit! x
  • Put away and give to someone else at a later date
I regift presents when they aren't suitable.

I have a couple of boxes in my storage cupboard where i put gifts away in, I also shop throughout the year and buy anything I think is suitable.
  • I would only get a possible unwanted present off 2 people, as in my family we all ask each other what we'd like ( we all stick to roughly the same budget so no probs there) If it was one of those 2 people I would very possibly regift it but last year I will admit to selling something on ebay. It was a luxury brand but I knew I needed the money more than I needed a very expensive shower gel!

However I am a teacher so do get lots of pressies off the children. Wine and chocs always get used and smellies will if they're nice, However a bath set from poundland or something will usually end up at the church fair as I'm often allergic to the cheap stuff!

my mum always did regifting when i was younger and i've inherited the streak.

As a teacher, I get quite a few presents each xmas and some are lovely and I use (coasters, hm gifts, chocs) but others i would never use (wines - hate it, flowery tea cup and plate combo thing?, candles - too dangerous with my dd!)

my mum has just had a 60th birthday and was given quite a few bottles of wine/asti etc. she doesn't drink, so when i said 'i'm done for xmas just got to get some wine for my adult class helpers' she said ' go grab some of those bottles from Friday's parrty'! so regifting is helping me out this xmas.

i've sold some presents at car boots in the past - i remember selling a wooden wine stand/rack we were given as a wedding present but it was not needed as we had built in botttle storage in the kitchen and as i've said already i hate wine!!!

mintymoneysaver - got it. So now I know not to get you either very expensive or very cheap shower gel! :rotfl:

I know what you mean tho, I got one of those £35 sets of Molton Brown shower gels last birthday! I was so grateful to the friend who had bought it (and didn't regift it as I would have felt mean - she is so thoughtful and lovely :o ) but if I had £35 to treat myself I wouldn't have bought that IYKWIM.

So I was torn between using it and being aghast at the price of it for six 100ml shower gels. £35!!! Gosh, I sound so ungrateful! Anyway, I decided to just treat it as an unexpected luxury which I would never buy for myself and enjoyed it enormously. They lasted me 8 months!!! :D And the box looks very pretty on my dressing table.

  • My family always ask what we would like, i give everybody a list of a few things so they can pick and its still a little bit of a suprise! So i cant say i have ever had a bad present from them. However the outlaws are literally a law unto themselves. Last year was a classic- some bin stickers with our house number on them!
