What do you do with unwanted Christmas gifts?

I usually add them to the present cupboard with a sticker to say who I got it from, and give it to someone else. Saves me a fortune next time round!

If it's something my mum would love, I just give it to her and tell her it's an unwanted gift from X.

If nobody I know would want it, I give it to the charity shop.

I'd be grateful for what I got and try to make good use of it at home or at work

Nowhere in the OP does it say anything about "not liking" it. An unnwated pressie for me is usually something unsuitable, duplicate, wrong size, something I am allergic to etc.

I will generally regift it, not neccessarily waiting tilla birthday etc. To me it makes far more sense that something is used by someone who CAN use it, than sit unused in my house for the sake of etiquette or guilt. Especially things like books or DVDs which are not your cup of tea, why keep it nad "try" to like it? I'd rather someone be actually enjoying it.

I either keep them for somebody else, sell on ebay or give away on Freecycle.

I wouldn't keep it just for the sake of keeping it, because it was a gift. My house would be even more cluttered than it is now! Plus i'd rather somebody else was getting use out of it than it sitting gathering dust. :)

exactly! As long as somebody gets pleasure from an item then it's not wasted.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

I would regift it if I could or hang on to it for a while and then give it to a charity shop if it wasn't something anyone else I know would like.

Over the years I have been given some pretty awful things and there is no way I want to keep them all.

Maybe I'm very lucky but I can honestly say I've never had an unwanted gift. Very occasional duplicate which I've exchanged.

Exactly what you do I make sure I write down who buy s me what and recycle to others I know will love them. Any Thornton's I get (am a childminder and my parents always buy me Thornton's even though I am on a diet and personally can't eat a lot of them) I give to my mum who loves them.

I always thank people for what I am given and appreciate the thought and effort that goes into what they give me but some things I cannot use e.g. smellies, perfumes and wouldn't want to hurt there feelings - one year a friend went you may as well have that back as I won't use it.
