Or put it back into the auction if someone was bidding against you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
thanks duncan for your comments.
Glad to be of help....the deal was delayed on the night for the auction to contact seller.
If not the auction house telephones the seller and asks them if they agree to reduce the reserve or loose the sellers auction fee.the vehicle was a renault megane scenic 1.9dt. the decision for me now is scrap or sell spares or repair??????????? totally gutted!!!!!!!
Does it have any road tax left on it, you could get a refund.
You have not said whether it is a non runner......even with a blown gasket...... all you need to do is get it to start in the storage lot and drive a few feet into the sale room.
so relist it with no reserve.
therefore you are only likely to be down both premiums (sellers £60/buyers£60) say £120 and the proposed difference in the bidding say £25... so £150 approx
but thats almost the price of a gasket repair.........
I guess you don't like this car that much now anyways so relist it and bid for another and walk away.
Consider that your mistake(if it is one ) has only cost you £150 but by bidding on another car it could save you many hundreds ....................:D
Tell us what year registered and miles showing on clock.

Indeed, a very good reason for private buyers to not buy from auctions, if they don't know how they work, they have no chance.0 -
Car auctions charge a small fortune to sell your car & you may get charged even if it does not sell. Also if you do, put a reserve on the car, or after the auction house charge, you could be left with nothing or worse.
Ebay is probably your best bet.0 -
Breakers Yard may be a better option.;)0

first registered 1997, 133722 unverified miles and mot till oct 2010.
what are the chances of this being worse than a blown gaskit? what would this cost in parts and how big a job in terms of time does it take? guna post this question anyway so no worries if your not sure. cheers dunc0 -
I agree with with the majority. You have no comeback at all at the auction(i am sure if you read the t&c it will state your rights)the person that put it in the auction probably knew the head was on its way out and put the mot on to get a better price(he hasnt done anything wrong unless he knew it was a dodgy mot).Put it down to experience and be more prepared next time you buy a car. Also dont believe everything the AA man said ,it might just be his opinion or he may be trying to make money by getting you to buy one of their checks.
You arent the first person to have their fingers burnt at auction and certainly wont be the last. Am thinking of a new one:beer:0
