No, you just have a reasonably strong position.

Take what you want and walk, history will decide if you're a **** for doing so. As it stands, if you actually purchased any of these items its up to them to take you to court to get a share back (if they can prove they own a share). Its up to you and your concious, just be sure you're being fair.

also I'm a bit worried about the inventory cos I made a couple of holes inthe walls to hold my bookcase in place which they think are serious enough to class as "damage". I plan to fill them in and paint over, does anyone know how much an inventory is likely to deduct for that kind of thing?
  • Depends on how good a job you do of making-good and the general state of the property to start with. If it was grotty dump before you moved in the landlord might not be as concerned as they would if it was a pristine palace.

do you know something sweetheart, i would just walk away from it all,
chalk it down to experience, youre at fault, (holes in the wall,) theyre at fault,
learn from it, be an adult, and just jog on. You;ll feel a better person fot it.

Have a large glass of grigio and move on - hic !!!!!!!!

make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • If the receipts show your credit/bank card details then this is pretty much proof of ownership, I'm not sure if it would be in the eyes of the law. If the receipt is for cash, that may be more difficult as anybody could have paid with cash.
Ownership could be argued that you were paid 2 3rds of the money by your house'mates' and you made the purchase on the behalf of all three of you, but then they would have to prove that they gave you the money....do they have a receipt from you!?
As PP stated, I would take the goods you have solid receipts for. Make good the holes that were left (although it sounds like thy're small shelf holes, should be no problem to sort!).
Good luck & I hope that your next place works out better. There's nothing worse than being ostracised by people you thought were your friends.
Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]

are you talking a tv, or a potato masher and a paring knife?

I'd be very comfortable taking kitchen doodads. Just do it.
    Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.
  • Sue the landlord for return of deposit. In a joint tenancy any one tenant can end it, just issue valid notice to quit (by you) with the correct expiry date
