tenancy ending - irreconcilable differences?

Hi there I currently live with two flatmates and am soon to move out. At the beginning of the tenancy we all split the costs of all flat items 3 ways. Originally they said that when I leave they will give me a third of the value back. Now they have gone back on this decision. I don't want to take something out of the house illegally but feel a little aggrieved that they get to keep everything.
Would I legally be entitled to a third of the household items? I've asked them permission to take some items, particularly the ones that I sourced but they've said no. Do they have any rights to say this? Can I just take a few things that we bought together?
Advice would be very much appreciated as the whole process has been really distressing and I feel that I have been unfairly treated by the other two (particularly when they asked me to move out in the first place because they don't get on with me).
Thanks

What have you got in writing?? (What have they got in writing??)0

Between myself and the landlord there was a AST but this is coming to an end as there has been a new contract drawn up.
The current flatmates and I originally agreed that my replacement would pay me my deposit. Now I have a written agreement that they will return my deposit on completion of the inventory and minus various items that they want to charge me for (party costs) but they decided to omit the household items and have point blank refused to give me any money back. I'm too tired to argue this and want to get out since they are making false accusations and casting aspersions.
I spent a considerable amount of time getting certain items for the property but they say that this is irrelevant and they don't want me taking a share of these items.
Nothing in writing apart from receipts that I paid for certain items0 -
Take whatever you feel is a fair share, ensuring that those items you do take cause them maximum inconvenience. Then move and enjoy a happy life0

I might add that I don't want to cause unnecessary hassle (which is why I approached them first) but I just feel like it's not right and I'm losing out.0

tee hee, sounds funny but I can't do that as I'm not out to seek revenge, I just want some particular items which they disagree with me taking 0 -
Who has your deposit, the landlord or the other two petty shysters? If the inventory is the LL's one and not one drawn up between the three of you then naturally the items bought between you aren't material. Get the deposit back and take whatever you think you're entitled to. Actually, in your position, I'd be tempted to take the lot and see if they'll see you in the small claims court for their two-thirds. Sod 'em!0

I agree with you taking some things, but be careful that yo only take things that you have a receipt for (and preferebly with your card no. on or something, then you cant be accused of stealing it at a later date.
Goodluckmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Technically the LL has the dep but we all made an agreement with the LL's representative to sort it out between the co-tenants. That was when we were on friendly terms. I asked for a written agreement of monies owed because I hadn't heard how or when I was going to get my dep back ("you'll get your money", was their answer). When I did this, this prompted verbal abuse and accusations and consequently they've decided to be very petty. I have to pass the inventory first before I get my dep back from them.0

Look, what I'd do is get a set of keys cut, get your deposit back, give back the keys and once the deposit cheque has cleared, sneak back in and take the items which represent my third. I don't call myself Bitter&Twisted for nothing and it's probably purely luck that I'm not in prison. What sort of value are we talking about here? It just might be better to get shot of these losers and write it down to experience0

Haha Bitter you are very funny! I calculated about £100 (initially £200 but with wear and tear I took off half) but to a student that's quite a sum.0
