Congratulations for your acheivement!:T
Aww thanks....next course starts in just a few weeks, EEEEKKK!!
I've been helping my brother out in the interim with his tax problems and study (he is doing a language degree via OU) as he is rather technology inept and of course being general taxi driver and spokesperson for my eldest at all his medical appointments to keep busy.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Well done susan, is your degree with the OU?“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

My recollection is that year 2 was more challenging, yet also more rewarding.
You go girl!:jIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
What's with the Susan? Have my parents arrived on the board :rotfl:
Tomterm - Yes it is. The big box of stuff arrived before Christmas and what a scary box it is...much bigger than the one for last year!
Lemonjelly - It certainly looks more challenging, I'm having my doubts as to whether I am up to it to be honest...but then I thought that last year too.We made it! When I went to university, the second year was generally much tougher than the first. One of my secrets that got me my 1st was to review the course materials before you officially "start" the course. Ironically, I think a lot of people thought I was smart, but in reality I think it helped that I'd already done most of the course before the first lectureThe second's rather obvious - knowing how the things marked, and concentrating on the things that will get you a high grade, rather than just doing everything.

I agree, have already started to look at the box of tricks and getting myself all prepared for it...would have done more but it has gone crazy with the medical appointments, not helped by me falling down the stairs on Saturday and tearing a load of ligaments in my shoulder, my left shoulder too and I am left handed!
The marking thing stumped me for a bit last year, it appeared more was put on how you set everything out than what your actual answers were but I soon got over that and was high scoring from the 3rd TMA (not that the other two were particularly low but I lost points for getting the set up wrong/bibliography not quite in the order they wanted it) right through to the final ECA.We made it! It is more challenging, but you'll be able to cope I'm sure! I had similar doubts. All it takes is dedication.
1 tip I'd give is that I treated it as a "job" of sorts - ie every day I'd spend the hours of 10-4 doing nothing but research work, reading, essay planning.
Tomterms tip is a good one. In the first yoear its possible (just) to bang an essay together the night or 2 before. In the 2nd year, I found I was spending 2-3 weeks on the same tasks that in year 1 took 2-3 days.
I remember the first day of year 2. I looked at my reading list & the essay questions, & I knew that I'd need to spend that kinda time on essays/projects.
It involves a lot of taking personal responsibility.
We'll chat about year 3 in 12 months...;)
