LIR, you have pretty well described my DD2's way of revising for exams:- pieces of paper everywhere all over the walls, colour-coded and often picture based. She sees everything she's learning in pictures and finds linking areas of learning with a part of her room, or the house, very helpful.
Never tried it myself, but have to admit it works, and times have moved on since I was a rebellious (not very!) stoodent.:)
Glad it works for her but it wouldn't work for me. I don't remember pictures at all. For me, the best way to get something to stick in my memory is for me to teach it to someone else!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Bloody terrible. What an example of a fascist state. I really despair sometimes.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Love the judges comment, after hearing a recording: 'you made no attempt to silence yourself':D:D

Tomterm, thanks for that. I've been debating maybe doing an entirely new subject via OU. Its a luxury as it would be entrely for my own interest, and to try and kick start my brain without the frustrations of missing gaps in the old knowledge where the brain broke. For the same reason I'm also considering having music lessons on a different instrument. I have the idea that OU would be ....harder to knuckle down to than a trad course, and although I could, luxuriously, do that I just feel light years away from a student and don't really want the life but just want a bit of a challenge. I feel a bit dazzled by choice ATM frankly, dunno what I wnna do.
Not chocolate, but on sweet stuff I can't stop thinking about the skoda cake car. I dreamed about hat when the ad was on tv. I have the feeling that some time in my life I will NEED a car made of cake and candy.0 -
If you go the OU route, there's no obligation to do a degree: just find a course that interests you, and do it. If you already have a degree, you don't really need another one. I am definatly going to avoid music lessons: I get kind of obsessive compulsive, if I started music lessons I might end up playing the piano four hours a day.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

My methods are to study late at night or during the day (when appointments allow) when the house is quiet, strangely, I can't study downstairs...I have to go to my bedroom, sit in bed and have all my books spread around me on the quilt. I have tried studying elsewhere but it just wouldn't work.
For TMA's, I am of the look, try to write, go off and do something else while I mull it over and then try again. If that doesn't work, I find laying down and relaxing will allow me to get what I want to write correct in my head, failing that, thinking about it when I go to bed at night in the interval between the light going off and me falling asleep.
For visual aids, I don't use pictures, I highlight the salient points in the work books which I think will be important keywords when it comes to the TMA.
I unluckily did choose a subject which requires lots and lots of essays, something I had not done since 1986 and my O Levels..surprisingly, the essay TMA's were the ones where I scored highest and where I felt the most comfortable.
The way I did TMA's may or may not be usual (I have no idea, I never met up with the other students), I would look at the TMA requirements on the Saturday break it down into its component parts, then in the following days, research the relevant cases, procedures etc and then do an essay plan. Following the essay plan, I would start on my first rough copy, then do a re-write with modifications and expansion if needed and then start transferring to the pc and word programme. During the write up in the word programme, I will modify if things feel wrong.
I then read through, making corrections to spelling and punctuation and usually will find bits that I am still not happy with and modify/cut etc. Then comes the read through to a friend, again changing anything that sounds slightly odd. To finish off, I sit down and do the bibliography (during the research stage, I will note down where I have found the relevant info in the side margin by page and book, this is expanded on in the formal bibliography), put it in alphabetical order and transfer it to the end of the TMA on the word programme.
After all of that, it is another read through, final check on spelling, possibly slightly more modification and then.....send it off!
Breaking the TMA down, research and essay plan takes on average 3 days, rough essay maybe a day and a half and the rest 2-3 days.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

But I could do a Post grad.....or an Arts degree, or .......0 -
I think people have forgotten one of the major requirements of this thread: mentioning chocolate on every page. Come on people: today I am wishing I could eat a cadburys creame eggs... lovely.. chocolate shell with diabetes causing fondant iceing. Who'd have thought they could pack so many calories in one evil little bundle of joy
May I gently remind you, it's now a Kraft Creme Egg?
Personally I can't stand the things, which is just as well, because DD comes home with whole boxes of 36 that she gets for £3. Other DD then consumes a whole box inside a couple of weeks and.......stays a size 8. Sickening!0 -

I think this sentence hints at the problem:
'Neighbours said the Cartwrights' sex sessions would usually start around midnight and last for two or three hours, every night of the week.'
I can't see many of the neighbours competing with that!
Back in the 90s I had reasonably close neighbours who used to row with monotonous regularity on Sunday mornings, and as I was usually in the garden, trying to relax, this made me wild. On one occasion, when the row had gone on for hours, he was telling her how he'd had enough and was leaving for the 14th time, when I'm afraid I lost it and yelled over the wall: 'Oh for God's sake man, just, p*ss off!'
We didn't receive any more Christmas cards, but I'm pleased to say, within a couple of years they'd moved to a more up-market neighbourhood. :beer:0
