Hello all! :hello:
Nice to see thread back on page 1 and chocolate being given the important place in discussions of the international economy that we know it deserves.
In fact, the newspapers for once have been agreeing with us, and putting chocolate, if not on the front page, at least front page of the business section.
Yah boo sucks. How dare a yank cheese company nick our chocolate?
I'd be v upset if Kraft do something horrid to Cadbury's and Hershey it or something. Apart from yummy Lindt-type praline things and truffles, I think Dairy Milk is my favourite.
Though curiously I got a particularly good bar at either Lidl or Aldi. Tragically, I can't remember which.0 -
I think this sentence hints at the problem:
'Neighbours said the Cartwrights' sex sessions would usually start around midnight and last for two or three hours, every night of the week.'
I can't see many of the neighbours competing with that!
Back in the 90s I had reasonably close neighbours who used to row with monotonous regularity on Sunday mornings, and as I was usually in the garden, trying to relax, this made me wild. On one occasion, when the row had gone on for hours, he was telling her how he'd had enough and was leaving for the 14th time, when I'm afraid I lost it and yelled over the wall: 'Oh for God's sake man, just, p*ss off!'
We didn't receive any more Christmas cards, but I'm pleased to say, within a couple of years they'd moved to a more up-market neighbourhood.
I like the newspaper story too.
Bet the husband must be v chuffed. Two or three hours a night - wife loves it - can't stop. Everyone knows.0 -

Hi Ca
UK chocolate is some of the most fatty over processed chocolate you can buy but i guess we're used to it.
If you compare a bar of lidl/aldi whole nut to cadburys the lidl/aldi always has good big whole nuts and the cadburys is always full of hard, sour, cwap whole nuts
Kraft may improve on it0 -
Interesting that you raised this one Lydia - is there something you would like to tell us?Changing the subject completely, has anyone else drawn the attention of the board to this article about an unusual ASBO?
Has Lydia ever posted between midnight and 4AM?I think....0 -

I was concentrating on looking for new threads /posts amongst the spam threads and didn't think anything of it as I am so used to ignoring them.
He just said...''what the **** are you involved with on this site ?''
I then had to explain Spambots and so on so he was cool....but...I have no idea what all this stuff is. Don't some slebs die taking this stuff?0 -
I logged on last night and OH looked over my shoulder and said something like..'You chatting with the werewolves again?'' then looked at the front page and went quiet.

I am still learning. I learnt 'Density' this season...cos I was in top 5 for a few weeks...still am post Xmas
I can brag about it now as I wasn't in the weeks preceding...in fact, I was having a mega stress out coping with it all...and it's such a small unit too. How embarrassing is that?
I have also learnt what ''Top Level'' is. Whenever anyone introduced themselves and said ''I am your top level'' I kind of just nodded and smiled politely. I have since learnt it is a critically important title that means one is Top, not middle or bottom and one earns a few quid an hour more and one can boss middles and lowers about.
Because of the set up I am a nothing level.:D
What else...other stuff was already in my own business speak dictionary...like sell through's, hanger appeal and price points.
I accept I am in Battery Fashion Retail environment for the moment (and fascinating it is too) but it can be harsh. If you don't perform, you go.
That's why the owner has a big boat.
Actually, I couldn't have done it if I was younger, it would have done me in...but I have A Plan brewing so it's a very important part of the business at the mo...esp as we no longer do the corp online thing.
We have replace the Corp Online T/O with USA export (yay...no VAT) and OH usually deals with him. I did the showing this week for the first time.....I wasn't very corp as it was in his hotel room (but a posh one in Knightsbridge) ....and I actually felt a bit out of my depth for once as he is a bit...I can't find the words...a bit corp style.0 -

Corporate style ... used to dealing with people, comfortable with being friendly or longer awkward pauses.
I think everyone's a scared child at heart, some are just better than others at hiding it. Plus some are more altruistic than others.
It's good to have a few plans on the go. Hedge the risk and all that.
You must be very good at your job fc, the industry you work in will have been impacted by globalisation. But then I guess new markets open up too..
I am not that good...I just tick over....if I was really good I would have A Big Boat too. We lack that ruthless streak I think.0
