Bought mince pies? Bought?! That's not very MSE!

I do handmake my own bread, but I know my limits, and pastry is well outside them. If I were to try to make mince pies, I can assure you they would taste foul.

My wife's gone to the East Indies.

    Jakarta?

No, she went on a plane
    My dog's got no nose.

    How does he smell?

    He doesn't. He's dead.

I've bookmarked a "best mince pies" recipe since 2007 .... but if I made the lot I'd have to eat the lot ....

Making the mincemeat is cheap too. It's just some dried fruit, spot of suet, sugar and a few bits of spice.

I'm not convinced baking mince pies is necessarily cheaper. Better, certainly, but cheaper...perhaps not. (I bake my own mince pies).

DH is tucking into a bowl of shell fish pasta, of course cooked here, but if I said how much the shellfish were PN would come after me with a gun.

Which reminds me...I need to PM pn.

LIR I get a vision that you are very much like the woman in the Wylde family in Emmerdale (I forget her screen name but her that's married to Mark). Are you anything like her? I imagine you living in a Home Farm type place with a millionaire 'DH' (as you refer to him) and have horses and a 59-plate Range Rover Vogue and a kid called Will (all posh people have a kid called Will). Am I warm?
