Thanks too, lir, I think I can make a good guess who the mischief-maker was!! Certainly not a female and never, ever going to get to be one of the coven.
Perhaps I should be flattered at the attention.
(Even funnier, I've just seen that, in DT, I appear to have a wife!!)

Are you a Harry Potter fan, Bertie?
Shame about the kitchen, welcome to the thread however.
Always good to get to know our lurkers...
Er ..yes how did you guess:p. I am a big kid at heart so the books were right up my street so to speak:rotfl:
Not going to worry about the kitchen really...just hoping it doesnt take us as long to save up for this as it did to replace wonky front door (4 years lol) and as it costs considerably more to replace a kitchen we really need to get saving....not easy with 3 lil' berties (actually oldest is 8" taller than me and wont stop flippin growing) and only 1 income!JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. Nice to have you on the board and on the thread, bertiebots. It can be very interesting and a lot of fun, and I've "met" some lovely people here.
However, you need a fairly strong mental filter to ignore the sniping about sockpuppets and some of the more unpleasant bull-baiting and bear-baiting.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

This is true. all of it. some of the people here, in this ''robust'' atmosphere I feel extraordinarily fond of.Its odd to think I don't know how they look or sound because they are poeple I care about and cry for and laugh with. Its odder still that one meets them in an environment were someone can impersonate one of them with a capital letter:D and in the back ground there are these odd rants. ''sockpuppets'' is something I never thought would be a part of my vocabulary.

Thanks:jI know to ignore wind up merchants:D ...but maybe being a bit thick here when you talk about sockpuppets dont have a clue what you mean lol! I have made some pretty good ones with my kids in the past and they have never been sniped at:whistle::think:JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

As we are all nice people on this thread, here is an example of how some members of this part of the forum can get excited trying to find posters with more than one ID.
(aka "sock puppets").

You have to make allowances for some of the "tired & emotional" outbursts on here when you look at the date and time of the postings

We have had a ( much needed ) fair bit done to our old place. Kitchen was quite cheaply done as far as the cupboards and stuff. The basic carcass was fine so we bought new panels and doors, oh and plinths ( I think that`s right ). Got `um from B and Q and I think the whole lot was £300 ish.The inly fright was when Mrs. P bought door knobs at £3 a pop. Love a duck, nearly fainted!
Seriously, we had put money aside for doing it and my buddy, I like a bit of mates rates, fitted it in between other jobs so all the work got spread out, so much so, by and large we were able to do most of it out of our joint wages and we are not huge earners.
The best bit was when we decided that the front of the house would benefit hugely from repainting. As it turned out we chose the very hot week end that we experienced in September. I have never seen 5 pints of Kronicburg go down so fast.0 -
I would love to have a nice modern kitchen...well just the cupboards would do! Mine was purchased in 1998 second hand for £50, so it is well overdue for an upgrade.
Just a little bit of positive news from me (say a little bit but I am as chuffed as can be), eldest has been offered a place in 6th form for the choices of A level he applied for (English Literature, English Language, Philosophy and Film Studies)...2 years ago, 6th form and A levels appeared to be out of the question and especially in English as he had scores more suited to a child at primary rather than senior due to his dsylexia. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Our kitchen is as old as the house built in 93' and I keep having to glue bits back on . But I keep telling myself we will get there eventually:D
My ds1 is just doing his options and I still cant believe it ,as he is youngest in his year ...he is doing an actual GCSE exam in june for maths at 13:(. So much pressure but luckily he is pretty laid back and quite clever. Actually getting him to prove that to his teachers is another matter as he does the least amount of work possible to get by (not to be sexist but is that a boy thing?) . Really hope my kids can go onto further education if they want to but the cost is a bit scary:eek:
