iPhone: Should I wait for Tesco?
Comments
-
Price will be just the same as O2 and Orange. Apple tell them what they can charge.
So, unless you want the Tesco club card points, it won't matter. . .0 -
It's been reported widely.
When Orange started to sell the iPhone the plans were the same as O2.
Apple is very restrictive about its products and no network would risk messing with them, they'd just stop supplying them with stock.0 -
Excuse my stupidity but what makes you so certain?
They guy has no clue. Apple can dictate the price to a point, BUT apple cannot dictate the margin on the product for tesco and other networks. so by his logic Tesco cant charge anything different to 02 and Orange? Complete tosh, tesco can charge £70pm for 50mins if they wanted and apple cant stop them!
I'd wait till at least Jan when Vodafone also come on the scene........0 -
I'm afraid "they guy" has plenty of clues.
You've obviously never been on the retail end of a negotiation with Apple.
No different pricing, no improved tariffs, nothing but clubcard points I'm afraid. And Voda will struggle to do anything other than maybe include 360 as an App in terms of differentiation.
If you buy a 3GS on a 24m contract you're going to be.. upset come July, on past form.0 -

I agree apple is restrictive but why would orange offer a contract for less than 02 when its a premium product that they can sell loads of at the same price to existing users first (proven by the demand and sales figures from orange)
Tesco prices have not been reported at all unless you can provide a link?0 -
When orange released the iphone i contacted them regarding purchasing one and the rep I spoke with said the same thing about apple dictating to them the prices0

I beleive 02 dropped the iphone tariff prices at a point earlier this year......how did this happen if apple have them over a barrel?
02 and orange pricing is different (albeit only slightly) so how can that happen if apple is rolling out the same tarriff to everyone?0 -
The only price drop I'm aware of happened when the VAT change came in?
And Orange still don't sell as many iPhones in a week as O2 do, as I understand it.0 -
TEsco have already stated that they wont be competing on handset prices. I am assuming this will also mean contract prices but could be wrong.0
