I thought tax money went straight back to the bankers to pay off the loans that the Government takes off them. National insurance pays for health, education etc?0 -
Depends on how you interpret the word 'tax'. Even then the so called bail out is not just a load of free money, it will be paid back with interest.0

It might fund a health service in the Cayman Islands but alas not in the UK. Banks are serial tax avoiders. Look at Barclays latest accounts - 18% corporation tax paid when the minimum should be 28% as all their profits from PPI go to Ireland and out of reach of the Exchequer and our schools and hospitals.0 -
Tesco do something similar as do other massive companies.0

How much interest exactly?
Is there a repayment plan in place? If so, and they default at some point, will they be charged? if so, how much?
What is the repayment timescale?
Where's the transparency here?February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

No, but they also don't pay out billions in bonuses each year as a reward for incompetent work.
And, I'm not particulalry happy with the NHS either at the moment. I don't think anyone can deny that it needs a radical review and overhaul. At the moment it is a black hole for money. Especially the hospital in my home town. They spent an awful lot on building this fancy new hospital, with it's high MRSA rates, and it's permanently in the red. Mainly because the government is imposing penalty after penalty on them for not meeting it's targets. It's so far in debt, it doesn't have the money to employ the staff to meet the targets.
But that is a separate issue and one that this is being taken to the local MP's. At least in my area anyway.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I intend to. But I doubt they will tell me and that's the problem.
We have no assurance, due to lack of transparency, that the banks will be penalised in the same way it penalises it's customers.February wins: Theatre tickets0
