What's your favourite perfume?

Hi folks, can you help?
I keep being asked what I want for christmas, and as I don't really need anything I thought I would ask for perfume.
My problem is I don't know what to ask for, I am fed up with my usual - Ghost (Deep night) and I fancy a change.
I have been into the department stores and had a bit of a sniff, but you can only deal with a couple of different smells at a time so it will take me 20 years to go through all the perfumes to find one I like.
This week I had it in my head that I might like Chanel No 5, so I went and tried it and its dreadful on me. Smells like something my Nan used to wear, I know perfume smells different on different people.
If you could let me know what you all love - I will go and try a few of your favourites.
Thanks x

Oh! And the ghost anticipation is lovely too.
I had a bottle of chanel allure and it smelt dreadful on me, so I gave it to my mum - and it smells beautiful on her!:p0 -
Ooooh, I have few. BTW I also hate Chanel no 5.
And I know what you mean by being able to deal with only few smells at once in the shop:rotfl: I've read somewhere that you should snif the palm of your hand (or glass of water) in between sniffing each perfume as the smell is neutral (well, hopefully!:D) and cleares your smell sence so you can smell the next perfume properly.
Calvin Klein Euphoria
Calvin Klein CKIN2U
Ralph Lauren - Ralph (my favourite!! Very fresh young cheerfull smell)
Davidoff Cool water0 -
I'm boring I LOVE sunflower because it reminds me of being abroad with my husband before we had kids..and I love Paris too!
just ordered myself a couple but cant remember what it is and no idea what they smell like, one was a Halle Berry one and the other was a Kate Moss make...:)You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -
I love ghost deep night (and also hate chanel no5)
My favourite perfume is Ultraviolet its in a round bottle, its really gorgoeus quite sexy smelling, my DD wore some for school (without me knowing) and all her mates loved it aswell, I think its to grown up for her though!
I also have Givenchy very irrisitable, which is nice and Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue which is also nice, they dont compare to Ultraviolet though, but its nice to swap perfumes so you dont get used to it.£100 - £10,0000 -
Thanks guys, keep em coming, Im making a list here.....
I keep going back to old favourites from many years ago, I never just stick with one.
This last couple of years I'v had:
Cerutti 1881, Paris, Georgio Beverley Hills, Samsara, Amariage, Manifesto (isabella rosellini?), sean jean for women.
You can tell I was an 80's girl from most of those! I have yet to find one I love.
My mum wears clinique aromatics, but thats awful on me and my best friend wears JPG - (the orange womans body bottle? ), but again thats awful on me.You can stand there and agonize........

Oh dear.
My favourite is Chanel No. 5.
I think I like "heavy" scents so you can probably disregard Calvin Klein Obsession and Givenchy Organza too.

Yes, I tried obsession and it was too heavy/woody for me, organza is another I can scratch off my list - thanks
Dont get me wrong - I dont really like the young clean scents either- Cool Water springs to mind, but I like the more 'sensual' (is that the right word) scents. You can stand there and agonize........

If you're an 80s gal you might like Boucheron. It's so hard to choose a new scent: sometimes you don't want something that's too close to what you've been wearing already and I agree, trying more than two or three testers at a time is too overwhelming.
My tried and tested favourites which I've been wearing for decades are Aromatics (day-time) Hermes Caleche (evenings) and Lanvin Arpege (VERY special occasions) but I have been told by younger people that they're "older lady" scents but I like to think of them as beautiful classics. One of the nicer things about wearing the last two is that no-one ever recognises them and that pleases me because I don't want to smell just like everyone else.0 -
CK one, i love it !! the only perfume that doesnt give me headaches. :jMejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0
