Afternoon all,
Intended to go out for lunch to try a local Chinese we just heard about last night, but OH couldn't wait any longer than 11.30 to eat so we had tuna sandwiches for brunch and will have leftover ham and cabbage later for dinner.
Very cold here to-day just watching forecast and it is to get colder...at least that will hopefully be an end to the rain for a while. Heating on here and OH has lit the fire as well in living room.
Going to DD4 later this evening to have her pin up 2 pairs of trousers that need doing badly....does being short have any advantages??
Must go and get some tidying done in kitchen, still need to put fruit for cake and pudding to soak.
Have a good day all

Afternoon all.
I'm doing a bit better than yesterday; stil abominably tired, but have managed to make Shepherd Spy, and the BM is currently working on a tomato loaf.
I hope I'm a bit more with-it tomorrow, as we have tickets for Verdi's "Falstaff", and I'd like to enjoy it!
Mr LW has the delightful (!) task of colouring my hair for me later; we have to nip into town first to pick up my meds, then it'll be a date with the dye, a glass of something;), and a Terry Pratchett book while we wait for the colour to take.
I hope everyone who's been poorly is feeling better today.
Oh, and Happy Birthday to Miss Sistercas.
((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon all
I'm all alone in my office and it's a bit creepy  so I thought I'd pop on here to feel less lonely :rotfl:.
I had a great day in work so far, I took my young people raft building this morning. We do it in the big old dock that's literally right outside my flat! They all enjoyed and only one fell in! It was beautiful weather, sunny and not too cold. They all went home at 1pm so I've been on my own ever since. Normally it's okay cos i put the radio on through my pc so I feel less lonely but it won't work for some reason today
Think I may finish hour early as I will be working extra 2 hours on Monday as we are down West Wales for the day.
Well I finally started my Christmas shopping yesterday. I ordered a lovespoon for my friend in New Zealand (she has just got engaged) and I found a present for my parents which me and my brother will buy between us. Also, me and my brother have decided not to do gifts this year as I won't be here for Xmas and not back til end of first week in Jan. So that's one less on my list. Plus me and my friends have decided to have a belated Xmas mid Jan when one of the girls is having her hen do, so we can get stuff in sales instead.
I booked her hen do last night, she didn't want a big deal or anything silly. So we are staying in a nice Ramada hotel with a spa, and breakfast included for just £25 each for 1 night
it's a bargain I found in Cosmo magazine. There are only 4 of us going so it will be nice.
Dinner will be omlette and something as I have 17 eggs in my fridge! So need to use a few of them up.
My letting agent had arranged for a man to replace one of my UPVC windows as the seal has gone, but the silly landlord has also himself arranged for another man to do it. Both men called me this morning to say it was ready to be fitted! So I was a tad confused and have left it with agent to sort out. But I'm hoping it's soon cos the room (spare bedroom) is freezing, I don't use it other than for storage but I would like to dry my clothes in there on an airer.
I guess I'd better get back to work!
Have a good afternoon all

Aww Bargainbird that's shocking news. You deserve a little rant.
Cam belt is expensive as they are very time consuming job to do. DH did mine the other week. He's off work today and absolutely full of a filthy cold, but he's out in the garage taking his car to bits to replace his cam belt. Last time garage put some of the bolts back on they managed to do them too tight AND round off the edges of the bolt head, so it's been ultra tricky for him. Always complaints about main dealers. Thank heavens he has the skills to do this himself. (he isn't 'trained' but grew up helping his dad. Is also mechanical engineer by training so knows about these things)
Hope that you enjoy your fish and chips. Maybe someone else to do dishes as well? Your feet must hurt so get them put up!
I'm now ( no procrastination THIS time) going to start putting the paperwork together for my Tax Return. Tomorrow I shall try and access the website. Dunno when the rest will happen LOL!

Evening everyone.
Just quickly popping on whilst the kids run amok (can't you tell when they are feeling better ).
Was very poorly last night, temp got close to 38 degrees (it's normally 35 for me) and I couldn't get it down. I was wearing PJ's, my fleecy dressing down, socks, a big fleecy blanket and sitting next to the radiator on full and I was still cold  Thankfully bit better today although have been up to my armpits in snot from my two kids and mindee (never mind my own ). It's been a looooooooooooooooooong day though
Off to see friends tonight (round at their house) and we're having a take out so no cooking for me
H working late so he will literally be in the door as I head out of it
Only OS was cooking some lamb chops in SC for the kids dinner. Have to say they were delish and I sneaked a couple of spoonfuls - you know, to test it like
Busy Saturday ahead, at friends in the morning (with kids so there will be 10 of them running around ) and then Food Handling Course in the afternoon.
Oh a little update on my FIL's accident. He's been suffering with in pain in his legs. turns out he's got a fractured pelvis that they never spotted  so the poor sod has been walking round progressively getting worse in the vain hope that keeping moving will help stop his joints from seizing up after the accident.
Sunflower - hugs to you xxx
Bargainbird - don't know what's worse - the bill for the cam belt or having to walk for 2 miles in high heels
Haribo - hope Dtwin is getting over her migraine - that must have been such a fright for you to see her like that xxxx
Right better tidy up some of the toys so that H doesn't have to do too much when he gets in (he was in work early too so been a long day for him).
Pleasant evening everyone.
Hugs to the poorlies and to all that generally just need one.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

What a lousy day, it was hubby's last day at work, they did give him a lovely send off £100 collection & lovely messages in a card. Everyone said how great he was & that he'd be missed, wonder why he didn't get the job then? Funniest thing was one lady gave him & hug & kiss to say goodbye & she went completely to pieces & had to go for a lie down to recover, maybe she has a secret crush on him.
Have a great evening everyone.
Hugs Hester

Evening All
Molly - its hard isnt it, I know sometimes you can love family but not like them however its very hard when they are in laws! OH is quite upset - he tried talking to them about the business but they refused to acknowledge & told us about the new caravan they are buying even though their old one is 2 years old. Luckily I had to pick my car up so only had to tolerate them for half the time. OH is now in a bad mood - especially when my family are so good and my Dad treats him like a son. Oh well - hopefully their money will keep them very happy.
Sunflower - she also doesnt eat mince, vinegar salt n pepper, ketchup and salad cream. I dont actually know how she eats a different meal 7 days a week.:rotfl:So glad the chemo didnt affect you as much this time.
Bargain-Bird :eek:hope tomorrow is a better day.
Bitsy - poor fil - that sounds v painful.
Had an interesting time at DS's decoration day - everywhere got covered in glitter - the parent helpers did clear up as much as possible but I dont envy the cleaners much. Out table made the decoration in half n hour so there was another hour and a half to kill! Did have a bit of fun painting my hand with pva glue then peeling it off when it dried.:D
Anyway car passed its mot with with just 1 bulb replaced so that was good news:joff now to watch a bit of telly.x0 -
Good evening, everyone. Wow, it seems like ages since I posted here last! It's been really busy and whatnot; getting the house insulated, cooking, prepping for Christmas, and work, work, work, but that's life! Peaks and troughs

I've planned quite a frugal/old style Christmas for us. I want to buy really good quality meat and some cheese and crackers instead of the usual crisps, etc. I loooooove leftovers, and roast dinners, so this is a win-win situation
Picked up some lovely sausages from the butchers' today - mmm, some for the freezer, some for the now.
I've not had a chance to read through the thread but I will do. Hope everyone has a lovely evening and (((hugs))) to those in need.
