ok so is ther actually any advantage of a 100Hz refresh rate over a 50Hz rate?
as mentioned it depends on more than that factor, its like saying 100% of one cake is better than 50% of another
the second may be 100 times bigger and so lots more cake mmmmmmmmmm:j cake
ignore the hz, personally id save my money and go for other features such as contrast(real not enhanced etc) or 1080p or bigger size, these all would be much more noticeable and beneficial ways to spend extra moneyBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Really depends on whats happening behind the scenes and what source is used etc
But I suppose in a word ~ maybe~ if its done right
Technically speaking, if you had 2 perfect 50Hz frames the tv could be made to 'fill in' the extra frame (To make it 100Hz). The problem is its actually VERY difficult to do correctly due to the sheer limitless (for want of a better word) 'movement' of pixels
For the record, I honestly dont know of any 100Hz tv that does motion better than the very best 50Hz ones.
Ive recently bought a Sony w5500 which has its 'motionflow' on. The panel is a 100Hz design. Motionflow does actually work very well at times, but at other times it looks very surreal and 'floaty'. So ive already decided it looks far better off (Running on a 'standard' 100Hz processor). On standard setting it does look very good indeed
On the other hand many tvs look far worse running at 100Hz:idea:0 -
My dad just got a W5500 too (or actually the 5810 Freesat version). I'll have to play around with the Motionflow when I'm next round there.0

Make sure you switch all the crap off in the advanced section
If its a 46w5500 ill post my settings if you wish? (I use a colour meter to properly calibrate tvs):idea:0 -
It's a 32 inch actually0

Shame ~ be pointless me posting my greyscale settings as the internals are different:idea:0

Where do you get a colour meter?0

I used to use a spyder 3 but just recently bought the EYE ONE (theyre not cheap. Mine cost a little over a hundred quid):idea:0 -
When loading some old PS2 games a screen used to come up asking what hz your tv ran at. Usually a choice of 50hz or 60hz.
Does this mean watching TV may not be affected but if your planning on playing games will a 100hz refresh rate make for a better gaming experience? Why buy when you can win!
