Personally I just drink tap water ... tastes nice round here and we all pay for it anyway :)

Came across this whilst hunting around ... It's quite long but also quite interesting.

  • My MIL refuses to drink water from the tap and i refuse to buy in bottled for her when she comes to stay, she can get it herself. There are millions of people on this planet without access to clean drinking water and we can just turn on the tap!

Out of interest - what do you pay for your water every month - in the South West it is 48 quid per month. Whats the going rate where you are ? (Incidentaly we are not on a meter because it would cost us MORE every month with hubby, me and 2.4 children)

It's £31 a month with Northumbrian Water - no meter.

I think the charge depends on the size of your house too? Mine's a 4 bed semi.
Here I go again on my own....

We don't have water rates or meters (as such) and there's no probs atall with the tap water flavour or smell, and I have no memory of a hosepipe ban...ever....and yet we are in the uk.

I would tell you where but fear alot of immigration to my town!

Have you tried a filter in your tap, works out cheaper in the long run, takes up less room in the fridge and much less fuss - though you might loose all those muscles grown from carrying the bottles back from the supermarket

I do think alot of bottled water has a 'taste' depending on what minerals etc it has in it, it's not really surprising tap waters the same - just different 'minerals'.
