I don't like the taste of our tap water and buy bottled water too. I get 8 litres from Lidl for either 89p or 99p, can't remember which!I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0

I use a filter and fill a bottle with the filtered water then I have water that's ready for me to drink and it's cold. Please Thank Me
Thank You0 -
only problem with filtered water is that as well as removing the bad taste it also removes the minerals as well.
The tap water is nice in our area so i bottle it up and put it in the fridge as well as take it to work.0 -
If the tap water tastes of chlorine, put a jug in the fridge for a while. The chlorine will evaporate off and leave nice tasting water behind. Here I go again on my own....0

thanks to all for your replies
had a handful last few days with our little SM what with weather being hot and all. hence could not reply earlier.
previously my PILs used to manage with tap water. but since my FIL developed kidney problems (he is 67 this year I think) he is insisting on buying bottled water.
now we (oh and i) have decided to stick with bottled water (5 ltr @ 87p) till we move out after buying our own property (hopefully sometime soon )
once again many thanks for your replies. much appreciated

If your tap water is undrinkable, what are your water rates like? I'd be inclined to demand that they either provide you with drinkable water or pay for an alternative.
Okay, pie in the sky, but posts like this make me so annoyed with the charges we have to pay regardless of the quality of service.
You probably have to use more shampoo, washing up liquid etc. as well  .
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

i buy it cos the tap water is vile- V hard. and then they put a chemical in it and it tastes and smells like TCP, even boiling it does n't get rid of the taste. Nothing gets me madder than having a sip of my first brew of the day- to discover they have been fettling with the water.0

Tap water is mildly chlorinted. Yukhomersimpson wrote:don't understand- what's the objection to tap water? do you drink tea/coffee and boil the bottled water? there are cheap alternatives such as lidl and most other supermarkets own brand but even it can be quite costly when you're already paying for tap water.Wildly my mind beats against you, yet the soul obeys. :heartpuls

Tesco also to Tesco value stilled water again in plastic bottles. Whether that is any better than tap water or any worse than Tesco premium water I'll let you decide.
Incidentally, I was told that babies and those who've had kidney stones shouldn't have bottled water as the mineral content is too high!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
