http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2106237Wow ! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I'm going to get £3 off my water bill next year (that's meant to be sarcastic lol)......... pathetic :rolleyes:It's a joke.
Whilst water companies have effectively been told to cap prices at inflation for the next 5 years, it does nothing about the recent huge prices the water companies have imposed.
e.g. I've just had my (metered) water bill for the next 6 months from Severn Trent. Whilst my consumption was exactly the same as the previous 6 months, the bill has increased by over 30%
I wonder how my employer would react if I were to suggest a 5.5 year pay deal of 30% plus inflation?
The rise in share prices of water companies, Severn Trent in particular, on the news says it all.
Edit: Btw, I believe it is an average if £3 off before inflation spread over the next 5 years, so don't hold your breath
Yep...Households will see a £3 fall in average water bills to £340 before inflation over the next five years, industry regulator Ofwat has said....

Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Scotland, with its much larger real cut, was conveniently left out of this article.
