they should make the :xmassmile episode of The Good Life compulsory viewing from September every year. The bit where Margo says "Christmas doesn't come in a van" is so very, very true :o Have a lookie on U inner tube if you haven't a clue what I'm talking about speechless-smiley-035.gif

Yep, agree BigMummaF, that's an absolute classic and, yes, I did watch it first time round!!.

Well I've just managed NSD no 8 :j:j:j - something that would not have seemed possible to me 3 months ago so I am well pleased with myself. I'm hoping OH will "volunteer" to buy the stamps for the Xmas cards I've spent hours writing today so that tomorrow can be another NSD, but will have to play that one by ear.

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow and well done to anyone managing an NSD today! We're all great, aren't we? :j:j

    i managed 1 more yesterday.
  • I've only just discovered this thread and I'm hoping that there is going to be a January thread that I can join. I'll still try for some NSDs this month though.

Just one question (as I haven't had time to read every post) - what happens with direct debits? Do they count or not? I haven't a clue what date most of them leave my account; I just make sure I have enough monies paid in to cover the bills. Food, petrol, etc I pay cash about 95% of the time. I rarely use my switch card and my credit card is used even less. So do NSDs include regular household bills such as utilities that are paid by DD?

    Thank you x

Hey You :santa2: & Greetings! I daresay there will be a continuance in the forseeable & you are most welcome to come along for the ride :D We've had folk join up half-way thru for a sort of trial run if you fancy a side-bet?
Basically, it depends on how YOU want to define a 'spend'. Some of us class grocery shopping as an essential spend that doesn't affect their NSD, while others try to buy a season ticket or fill up the petrol tank just once a week to get them to work & count that as a spend.
Personally I don't include dds & paying utilities in this Challenge but groceries I do. I try to do as much as I can in one fell swoop--mainly to help reduce the petrol costs :o--so if I need to buy fruit for lunch boxes tomorrow, I'll see what else I can pay today to save spending again in the week.

Could have done with your help Saturday Solventsoon  Got my cousin a moneybox shaped like a M!ni & a balooga to wrap  :rotfl:On the news this morning a lady said we use enough :xmassmile gift wrap to cover the Isle of Wight  so I'm seriously considering doing my bit to help the environment & just handing over the prezzies next year!

Morning - well i am doing very very badly this month so far. I have had 1 NSD this week - must try harder next week

You're not alone hun, I haven't got one yet! My anticipated no spend day for today has gone out the window as my Dad and Step Mum are coming over for tea tonight so I had to buy a few bits this morning.

Tomorrow I'm food shopping, Wed I'm pressie shopping, Thurs I'm helping out at the school Christmas Fayre so I'm 99% sure I'll have to buy something for the little ones there! Friday our friends are coming round and we're having a takeaway together - sob, I'm beginning to despair ......
  • Morning all!

Yesteday was NSD number 8 for me; however, I met up with a load of friends on Saturday - haven't seen them in months due to being busy with work etc. and ended up eating out (both lunch and dinner) plus spent a bit on drinks - after heading out to meet them at lunch time, I rocked back up at home some time after midnight, spending about £60 in the process - oops!

This week I plan do do my Xmas shopping and it's my turn to do a big food shop - hopefully, I'll manage to do that over 1 or 2 days and the rest of the week will be NSDs - fingers crossed.

    Welcome on board kingfisherblue.

I hope the poorly peeps feel better soon.

And, good luck to honey and Surfbabe, and anyone else who is struggling to get into their stride!
