No. A cyclist is more entitled to use the road than a driver.
And where does it say that in the law?

Everyone is entitled to use the road in one way or another. However, EVERYONE is required to look out for their own safety, and the safety of others. This includes avoiding putting themselves at risk as far as possible. As the HC says in the intro, "It is important that all road users are aware of the Code and are considerate towards each other." Far too many road users couldn't give a damn about anyone or anything, and will quite happily abdicate their responsibility, and blame everybody else for something that could be perfectly avoidable, if a little common sense was used. After all, if YOU don't care about your own health and wellbeing, it's a bit much to expect someone else to kill themselves to keep you safe.

There isn't much point in being technically right, if you're dead!!!

  • The problem with debates about cycling on here is that whatever you do, you get damned for it.
Ride on the road, you get it from car drivers. Ride on bridle paths, you get it from walkers and horse riders. Ride on shared paths alongside main roads, you get it from pedestrians.

Ride on dedicated cycle lanes and you find out they are rubbish, covered in debris, invaded by cars whenever it suits the driver or parked in, badly designed, improperly drained, never cleaned etc. etc. etc. Then those drivers complain about all the cycle paths being built when cyclists don't pay road tax.

    Its a no-win situation being a cyclist.

A bit like driving a car then! ;) At least you don't have the expense.

Cyclists, pedestrians, and equestrians have a right in law to use the roads. They require no training, no licence, no special permission, nothing.

    A right.

Motorists, or anyone operating a motorised vehicle on a road, need a licence. They need permission from the state. They have to show they're properly trained, and if they don't follow the rules, that licence may be suspended, or removed completely.

    An entitlement.

They are not. See my post above.

Your post above is largely !!!!!!!!.

Cyclists have a right to use the roads. Motorists do not. That is unarguable fact.

I can think of an instance I wish a cyclist had been in the middle of the road to indicate their intention to turn right. As they had kept left I assumed they wanted to go straight on then overtook them with plenty of space and I'm lucky I did.

He, and I, posted that fact earlier in this thread. The argument dwindled out, new people came along and said exactly the same thing that had been said before, you can hardly question ppplasers for not posting a fact when he and other had posted it earlier but you just didn't read it.
