3rd time lucky. You got two posts of this, maybe 3rd time you might get your money back
I might just do that with the email received from travelodge. The email received contained this link.

Exactly 'WHY' !!! are they just trying to show me that this practice is not unusual?????????????????
Maybe they have taken the stance " if you can't beat 'em join 'em."0 -
Could be totally off the mark here but.....
1. When you book a £29/cheap offer room you know you're going to pay in advance to get that rate. Believe there is an option to pay £1 extra for some sort of insurance but pretty sure that's really to cover you in the event that you can't actually turn up under certain circumstances.
2. Am guessing that, maybe, to be charged twice you clicked twice or somehow got confused - possibly did multiple searches/bookings?
3. If you paid via a Halifax card, aren't you registered for Halifax Secure? (It's free and demands a security password before accepting your booking.) If not, then good idea to register asap.
Understand your frustration but this illustrates the problem with automatic booking services (and the downsides of taking advantage of the discounted rates). If you want a personal service, then you need to pay full whack! Sorry but it's true....Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

I just can't believe that most think Travel Lodge is 'great'.
It's incredibly average.
Maybe many are just easily pleased or not used to anything nicer.
Horses for courses and all that. Yes, definitely not comparable with a top class hotel but then sometimes a clean, basic place to rest your head with ensuite facilities is all that is needed and Travelodge doooo fit that bill nicely! :TMake the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Thanks for the input, I do pay online regulary for different products and have not had this problem with any other online trader. I received 1 VAT invoice and 1 booking confirmation , they have told me they sent out 2 VAT invoice's (I have only received 1.). I have 1 only booked 1 room and only have 1 room booked on the 'my travelodge' page.
I am convinced that the customer sevice staff are just not interested in finding the problem..0 -
Travelodge is owned by Dubai International Capital. Put that into Google News - you might find it interesting.
Thanks, This should sort of wake people up. http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/markets/the_gulf/article6936260.ece
I suspected that they may be in financial trouble, the way they treated my situation. ????????0 -

Maybe. You can, if you book in advance, get really cheap rooms, and people may be judging them on what you get for your money.
We have never booked into a travellodge and paid more than £20 a night, so are judging it on those sort of prices.
My in laws liked the innkeepers lodge, but they had to pay the full £50ish to stay there.0
